Popular Post Yodarapper Posted yesterday at 01:10 PM Popular Post Posted yesterday at 01:10 PM So picked it up! Byd Atto3 extended range black - Thai version. bit nervous driving back home after picking it up 😅😂 All good - lots to learn but everything looks good - only thing is I didn’t realize how much the dash cam thing blocks view….i guess I’ll get used to it! thanks to everyone and I’ll be sure to ask more questions! Edit: removed some pics at OP request. 1 2 5 1

Nice car... congrats... You mean this ??? (main screen) - how does it block the view ??? isn't your eyeline to the bonnet above this ? 1
Popular Post atpeace Posted yesterday at 01:40 PM Popular Post Posted yesterday at 01:40 PM I bet you're going to love it. Bought my first 3 months ago and already want to upgrade. Bought a Neta because I wasn't convinced an EV would be better than my diesel truck. For my retired lifestyle EVs are perfect if you can charge at home. Even better if you have solar. Having a battery in my car that can power my home AC and lights during a power outage is also nice. 3 1

Yodarapper Posted yesterday at 01:55 PM Author Posted yesterday at 01:55 PM Currently have it charging in the driveway, with the included slow charger but at least I know that one works! one thing I can’t figure out is how to find the QR code to link to the byd app for my iPhone?? oh and an annoying thing is I can’t open the windows for 7 days……apparently have to wait for the film tint to set. I had to open my door to get into my village and then I couldn’t get the car going - think it automatically goes into park when you open the door. That opening the door to get tickets form parkings etc will be annoying for the next 7 days….😡 1

Andrew Dwyer Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago One thing you should do now you have the car is check that you can charge outside at a charger. You should have registered for some apps already so now just give them a test, 5 minutes charge, to see if you are prepared, I would suggest EV Station Pluz and PEA Volta for starters. Soon you will want to go for a longer drive on the highway or to another city so don’t leave it to the last minute. Oh, and congratulations !, the Atto 3 is a great EV. 1

Also, a good website and app is called Plug Share (not sure if its already been mentioned).... it shows a good selection of chargers wherever you are, will tell you the type, availability and the 'brand' etc... These are the Apps I have... as per Andrews suggestion, I registered and download a load of Apps so we didn't have too much delay when using the chargers when out and about (which we've hardly done anyway). Thinking I was so organised and prepared, we went to a PTT charger and found that the 'old app' was not working and had to download a new App and re-register cards etc !!!... BUT... as mentioned - ensure that any App you have registered will accept whatever cards to use with them. 1

If you bought it to reduce the amount of carbon being produced, you failed, power stations run mostly on coal Don't plug it in to recharge unless you have a wind turbine Then you are not 'educated enough' at all.... there's nothing wrong with Chinese cars. Bigots used to say the same thing about Japanese cars 40 years ago, then about Korean Cars 20 years ago... I agree with the carbon-footprint issue... but again, you miss a large point of EV's which is 'moving the the emissions away from centres of high population' i.e. assisting in keeping the air in the cities in which most people live 'cleaner'... Anyway - there are enough other threads about the pro's and con's of EV's - This thread is about Yodarapper's new car which you are attempting to derail with dumb comments about 'going up in a puff of smoke' - highlighting that you don't understand that EV's have far less chance of catching fire than ICE's - once again outlining your lack of education on this point. 1
Pib Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago 18 hours ago, Yodarapper said: no, I mean the box thing above/behind the rearview mirror…..I think it’s just one of those things I need to get used to. That box you refer which your rearview mirror is mounted contains a variety of electronics like the forward looking sensor that feeds signals to some of the car's safety features, the Dashcam camera (which only occupies around 15% of the space within that box, electronics that control dimming of the rear view mirror (if you have an auto dimming mirror), etc,. Just a bunch of electronics....a lot more than just the Dashcam camera. If you are standing outside in the front the car looking straight at windshield to view that mirror assembly you see something that kinda looks like a pyramid shaped flat funnel and what maybe is a camera lens in the middle of that funnel---now that is "not" the Dashcam. That funnel shaped thingie deals with sensors looking at the road in front of you. The Dashcam camera is separate and is at the very bottom of the box assembly kinda off to one side...and you may have a hard time even seeing it from the outside. But go set in the car, turn on the car and then go to the Dashcam icon in the infotainment center to view the Dashcam image AND then run you fingers along the front, bottom, kinda right hand side of that box assembly while setting in the car and you see your fingers on the Dashcam image. you won't even notice that box assembly after a week or so (unless maybe you are always looking for birds and planes in the sky versus cars on the road). Congrats on getting the Atto!!!! 1

Don't know about apple, but a cable would be the first thing I tried. My kids Toyota (3 months old) says on screen "connect cable for android auto" Neta manual says nothing, only YouTube has the answer. 1

Thanks for your well-researched insights. I’ll be sure to consult my wind turbine next time I plug in. 🙄" DeepSeek R1 was a little bit more nuanced: 'Acknowledge Concerns & Provide Context: Thank you for raising these points—it’s important to discuss the nuances of EV sustainability. While the carbon footprint of electric vehicles (EVs) depends on energy sources, the broader picture reveals meaningful progress. 1. Grid Decarbonization is Key: Even in regions where grids rely on coal, studies show EVs often have lower lifetime emissions than gasoline cars due to greater energy efficiency. For example, a typical EV on a coal-heavy grid emits about 20-30% less CO2 over its life than a comparable ICE vehicle. Moreover, grids globally are transitioning to renewables—solar and wind now make up 80-90% of new electricity capacity added annually. As grids decarbonize, EVs inherently become cleaner. 2. Chinese EVs and Global Progress: China, while still using coal, is the world’s largest investor in renewables, accounting for over 50% of global solar and wind installations in recent years. Its EVs are part of a strategy to reduce urban pollution and oil dependence. Many Chinese-made EVs also use batteries produced with cleaner energy (e.g., CATL’s Sichuan facility runs on 100% hydropower). Manufacturing emissions are a challenge industry-wide, but innovations like recycling and localized supply chains are addressing this. 3. Systemic Change vs. Individual Action: No single solution will fix climate change, but EVs are a critical piece of the puzzle. Pairing them with grid decarbonization, renewable energy plans, and policy shifts amplifies their impact. Even without personal wind turbines, choosing a green energy tariff or supporting utility-scale renewables accelerates the transition. 4. Efficiency Matters: Coal plants convert energy to electricity more efficiently (~33-40%) than gasoline engines convert fuel to motion (~20-30%). This means EVs on fossil grids still use energy more effectively, reducing per-mile emissions. Closing Thought: Transitioning to sustainable transport is a journey. While today’s grids aren’t perfect, EVs provide a scalable pathway to cleaner air and lower emissions as renewables expand. Let’s continue pushing for systemic changes while celebrating incremental wins!' And here is another challenging bit for context: Thailand power generation relies only for 20% on coal. 1

That's only to play music from phone to car. Google maps and Netflix require a cable. If you want wireless connection for your phone/car android auto/carplay you'll probably need to buy a carlink 5.0. https://youtu.be/cPBwrDM1s_Y?si=fmbw5MdSzstL328l 1
herfiehandbag Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Bloke in a white EV pulled out of a Mini Big C in Chiang Rai the other day. Knocked a lass off her Scoopy. Both were going slowly. No injuries. I picked her up, he didn't see her - he was hunched over his screen (trying to find a charging point?) I was right behind her, and offered to stand witness. He is supposed to be paying for repairs to her Scoopy - 3

It seems the Atto 3 has AppleCar play and AndroidAuto - so I'm guessing both would work without a cable - I'm not certain though.

MangoKorat Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Living in 'the stcks' with few public charging points and needing to travel long distances in a reasonable time, I'll be buying another diesel shortly. Technology is moving very fast but not fast enough for me. When I can charge overnight at home and obtain a range of 500km without a special charger and still do the same in 5 years time, EV's will be back on the menu. Bangkok may be OK but I'm not convinced that an EV is the way to go for those living in the countryside that need to travel considerable distances regularly quite yet. BYD do make some very good looking models though.
