Tourism Thailand Vows to End Dual Pricing Amid Growing Tourist Backlash
I don’t support dual pricing in Thailand’s national parks — it’s unfair and outdated. But let’s be clear: it’s based on citizenship, not race. It applies to all foreigners, regardless of their skin color or background. Calling it “racism” is not only inaccurate — it’s counterproductive. It derails any serious discussion about how to reform the policy and replaces it with emotional noise. And comparing Thailand to Sweden just doesn’t work — completely different systems, laws, and social dynamics. Also, the idea that Thais “don’t charge other Asians” is just plain wrong. Thai staff can usually tell the difference between Thai citizens and visitors from other Asian countries — just because someone looks Asian to a Western eye doesn’t mean the rangers can’t distinguish. That assumption says more about the observer than the policy. If people genuinely want to see change, it starts with understanding the issue properly — not twisting it into something it’s not. -

Immigration Thailand Digital Arrival Card. TDAC
Just another data point, I'm sure. I successfully filled it out in China, with departure point in China, residence in the USA, and countries in the past 2 weeks being China. I didn't get the email yet after 24 hours or so, but I printed out the page and also saved it to a PDF. No QR code. Just an "Arrival Card Number" with my name, passport # and date of arrival. I'll post back if I have any issues in China or BKK tomorrow. -

When was the last time that you spoke with a foreigner?
It was a joke. Of course no champagne with a ribeye. That would be better suited with a Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot. Tannins are necessary. -

Health Six Dead as Covid Cases Surge in Thailand
We had booked to go to Pattaya for New Year in 2020 under the WTT scheme. A coupe of days before they put Pattaya into lockdown, my wife phoned up the WTT people if we could get a refund but nobody had a clue so we decided to go anyway. On NY eve they increased the restrictions and as you say very little open and takeaway only. We dined in the room with the liquid refreshment I had brought along. In the evening we went out for a walk along the beach, couldn't get a drink anywhere, residents only. We went back to our hotel and went up to the rooftop bar. I was a bit surprised how few were there, then she brought the drinks list, limited choice with beer at 400 baht and whisky 500 baht. Just went back to the room, sat on the balcony with our own refreshment watching the fireworks at Laem Chabang. Following day we drove along the coast a bit outside the lockdown area and had very pleasant lunch by the sea. This was Pattaya beach about 10pm on New Year's Eve.
