Thai immigration authorities have arrested a 27-year-old Israeli man wanted for a brutal attack in Tel Aviv, after he fled to Thailand in an attempt to evade justice.

The arrest was made following an extensive investigation led by Police Lieutenant General Panumas Boonyalak, Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, under orders to crack down on foreign nationals committing crimes and living in Thailand. The operation, carried out by Police Colonel Jiraphong Rujiradamrongchai and his team from Immigration Division 3, involved close cooperation with international law enforcement agencies.

 

Authorities received credible intelligence that the suspect, referred to only as Mr. K , for legal reasons, was hiding in Pattaya. A check with relevant agencies confirmed he was the subject of an Interpol Red Notice issued by Israeli authorities. Upon locating him in central Pattaya, officers swiftly moved in to apprehend him.

 

According to Police Major General Chairit Anurit, Mr. K and an accomplice lured their victim to an apartment in Tel Aviv, where they savagely attacked him with glass bottles and stabbed him multiple times in the neck, leaving him with critical injuries. Following the attack, the suspects fled the scene.

 

An Israeli court subsequently issued an arrest warrant for assault causing grievous bodily harm and obstruction of justice, carrying a potential prison sentence of over 23 years.

 

Investigators determined that after learning of his accomplice's arrest, Mr. K fled Israel using a fake passport. He later entered Thailand legally with his real passport in late 2024 and had been residing in Pattaya ever since.

 

Following his arrest, he was charged with overstaying his visa and is now facing deportation proceedings. Thai authorities are working closely with Israeli officials to facilitate his extradition.

 

The Immigration Bureau has reiterated its commitment to ensuring Thailand does not become a haven for international fugitives, vowing continued cooperation with foreign law enforcement agencies.

He fled Israel on a fake passport but used his real passport to enter Thailand.  I wonder why he didn't use the fake passport to enter Thailand?

Wow! if they call that an extensive operation then foreigners have nothing to fear. My god, they looked online and searched his name and found where he was and arrested him. That must have been a long and tiring day for them. 

Hiding out in Pattaya?

I would think if attempting to hide out in Thailand a backwater might have worked better.
