Has anyone received 1099 tax statement for 2024, both me and the wife are waiting for ours. last year I had already filed by time

Be aware if you don't already have an account, it can be a nuisance getting started, but once it's in place, it flows very smoothly.

I got mine the first or second week of January.  I wasn't expecting that.  Anyway, now I have no excuse for procrastinating on my taxes.

SocSec issued a 1099 (SSA-1099SM-F) on myssa in early January.

I efiled on Jan 28, my refund was deposited on February 6.

I have an SSA account so can get mine there, wife doesn't, been living here for nine years and we always got them early in January, not this year, the postal man must have thrown them in the trash.

Out of curiosity, why do you need it? If you got, at the end of 2023, "Your 2024 Social Security Cost of Living Adjustment" -- you already have all the numbers needed to punch into a tax return. But, maybe you didn't -- and that's why you're asking.

And, of course, if filing electronically you don't need a 1099, as there's no requirement to attach them to the filing. And even filing hard copy, 1099 only required if it has withholding tax indicated.

I had a couple slow 1099 folks this year, but had all the applicable numbers, so didn't need them. Did my TT on Jan 20; IRS opened up for filing on Jan 28; got my direct deposit refund Jan 29. Pretty smooth.

yeah... online SS account is the easiest route.

My initial 1099 was available online several weeks ago ... sometime early December, I think.

Due to dumb mistakes on SSA's part, I was in overpayment in 2024.  I paid off the overpayment in late Dec. because my initial 1099 included the overpayment amount.  I wanted to reduce the amount on my SSA-1099 for 2024.  Shortly after paying it off my online SSA account had the updated 1099 available.

I received my paper copy of the updated 1099 earlier this week.

This was actually Dec. 27, 2024.

A full month before the IRS even began accepting returns.

On myssa you can opt in for message notification, so once I got that email I logged into myssa and downloaded the 1099.

While not absolutely necessary for me it's nice to have the paper backup. Other 1099's for me became available online in January with the last one popping Jan. 25.

As far as I can tell I have not received a paper copy in the mail (yet?). I did receive a paper copy last year, and in previous years. And I have received other paper copies like the 7162 and 2025 COLA letters.

My wife doesn't have an online account and not 100% sure what her total is, I have an online account so I can get mine there. Normally we receive them in early January, we did receive our 7162 and cola forms

Haven't received mine, as checked the PO Box yesterday.  Although it should actually come to the house, since notified a couple times with address change past 2 yearly pulse checks.
