I have noticed a lot of bars now don’t have a cup in front of you where they would place dockets of your alcohol purchases. It’s all done behind the bar and you are presented with the bill upon your leaving. I insist on paying my drinks as I go. Bar  staff are not too happy with that arrangement because they know there’s less chance of them ripping you off.

Absolutely. If the bar tries to convince you it's not necessary. I leave. I buy a drink I pay. If I buy a lady a drink. I pay. Never had an issue with end of night bill.

I always feel there is an increase in his sort of thing as we come out of the peak season. Things have been so easy and lucrative for a spell and now we are left with fewer two week millionaires,  mostly balloon or special offer chasers. Sense of entitlement in the girls too....

This is has got to be close to a daily occurrence in Pattaya. Slow thinking and disgruntled punters get pissed out of their mind and cause trouble.

Seems this never get's old to comment on 🙂

Move along, another in the endless parade of sots making their way to the join the dregs of the earth.

A display of uncivilized low life behavior, and they are probably proud of themselves!

Schoolboy error on his part, dont get into disputes with thais in a bar ( even if you think you are right) because you are never going to win, just pay the bill, walk out and never go back

Bring the family to the NEW Pattaya‼️

That never gets old. :clap2:

He will get worse than that from his 15 stone wife when she sees this after telling her he was going on a mens only golfing holiday.

Guy got happy bought the girls drinks generously totally forgetting the price difference for lady drinks, gets the bar bill and off it goes once again.

Lesson to be learnt here .Don't get pissed and keep checking your bar tab during the night so you can see the cost of the lady drinks and how much you are spending.

I have bought a few lady drinks over the years.  I don't recall a 50% mark up on them.  Sure they were either watered down or just juice or non alcoholic but I knew that in advance.  I have rung the bell once or twice.  I remember in super baby I think it was, three or four girls on stage were doing a nice little issan dance,  with traditional moves.  Nothing fancy or gross.  And the song was a traditional one.  rang that bell and chatted.  Simpler times

People sometimes forget that for every jaded, pence-pinching, balloon-chasing old expat in Pattaya, there are 500 "newbies" that have just arrived off the plane and have never been outside of their home region/state, let alone in a foreign country on the other side of the world.

And despite how widespread and easily available the internet is - very few ever do a detailed search on their destinations aside from things like "where is the hotel and where is the beach".

But they've heard stories. Hand-me down tales from cousins and uncles and that nice man who used to take you out to the shed in the back for naked "sword fights" when your parents weren't around.

But those stories usually lack two important things.
Relevant details and - reality.

For example. When I was in Afghanistan and people found out I was living in Thailand, invariably there'd be someone in a group that "had a friend who went to Thailand and he rented a house right on the beach, hired one woman to do all the cleaning and laundry and another woman to do all the grocery shopping and cooking - and he was sleeping with both of them - and it only cost him $75 US a month !"

Seriously ! Between 2003-2005 in Kabul I heard that same story, almost word for word, from 3 different people !

And it was hilarious to see the confused look on their faces when I told them the Vietnam war ended 30 years ago. And then had to explain that things haven't been that cheap in Thailand since the mid-late 70s.

(Then ask who their "friend" is and invariably they'll have forgotten his name or it will actually be a "friend of a friend" and so on. Because what they are really doing is retelling an old wives tale that gets passed around in bars and schools and workplaces for decades and none of the people hearing the story ever question the details.)

But then some people hear such stories, hop on a plane and arrive in Thailand - totally clueless about how things really work here.

And then they go to a bar, thinking it's just like the bars "back home" except they seem to be full of young(ish), attractive(ish) women that actually seem to like them !

And they start thinking all those stories they heard are true !

Until they get their bar bill and that "reality" that was missing from those stories hits them.

Some sheepishly accept their newly learned reality that things aren't as cheap - or easy - as they were led to believe.

And some get into drunken brawls with ladyboys in high heels.

And one day, maybe, 2 or 3 of the 500 (per jaded expat) will become older, wiser and equally jaded expats themselves.
(Right about the same time they learn about ThaiVisa/ASEAN Now and join the rest of the "socks with sandals and wife-beater undershirts" brigade of expats.)

Are you lost?  Did you know that this is Thailand?

Condoning violence?  Violence already happened.  This bloke is lucky that he didn't have the bar staff coming after him instead of just the bar girls.

All I see is a drunkard clown getting off the ground and waving his arm telling people off. Did you notice that his friend was waiting outside the bar while the drunkard clown friend was getting roughed up? Friend didn't want to get involved and most probably for good reason.  Something tells me that this is not the first time this has happened. Will the drunkard clown learn from this? Answer: Not a chance in hell, give it a couple of days and all willl be forgotten.

I love this story. Maybe a headline in the 'Sun" with a photo 🤗

Yet they will not face any assault charges even though there is proof, justice here is non existent, most of the comments are for the ladies, until they themselves are at the receiving end.
