I would at least hear what they wanted as living in Thailand for 22 years, the only time immigration has called me is when my extension of stay is approved. They never just like Thai police call random foreigners for no reason so, yes it's likely a scam.

    Do any real Thai officials call farangs for whatever reason? I don't think I ever received a phone call from an official. I think normally we receive letters.

As I understand it, if you pick up the call at all, your number goes into a database of live numbers that they can sell on.
