What? There's no hospital penthouse suite awaiting his dear sis who is on her deathbed and just wants to "come home to ride out her last days with the grandchildren?"

Yes, "Big Bro" seems to have made a remarkable recovery from his serious medical "condition", "dabbling" in politics again! Just goes to show that Thailand really is the "Medical Hub" of Asia! 🙂

The UK should have the same policy of holding incompetent and / corrupt politician to account.   In fact the EU should adopt it too.

The current PM of the UK should be first in line then?

Why not lock up all the generals who committed treason against the state by committing illegal military coups. If a coup is illegal, then any punishment resulting from the illegal coup must be illegal too?

Fair point!

I assume she had a Diplomatic Thai Passport at the time of her departure and that would have been revoked and renewal not possible through a Thai Embassy. What her visa status is in the UK and on what PP I don't know. Maybe she is dual Thai/Uk citizen? I am deeply concerned she will be rejected at the airport check-in desk or Immigation due to lack of documentation if she tries to return on a commercial flight.😋

IIRC she has a Thai ID card and does not need even a Thai passport to return to Thailand.

Theoretically she should need a passport to catch a flight, but I think that could be waived.

They and the USA even worse than Thailand

You cannot say that Taksin's and her convictions were not political. So a political solution will be found, simple.

It's sad when articles like this are written in a way as if we all should be sad that the beloved Yingluck is not here.

How about writing an article that one criminal, who fled the country for many years, and then evaded jail with a dubious hospital stay, talks about another criminal who run away from jail?

Thailand should jail criminals, all of them. That would be a nice start.

It would not surprise me in the least to learn that she is already in Thailand hiding out with Thaksin supporting her.

Currently she is just waiting for all the hooha from the inquiries about Thaksins hospital stay. Once Thaksin sorts out those people and his daughter changes the laws for incarceration then she can make herself shown publicly again.

And there was me thinking these two were untouchable just like the cop killer who has evaded capture !

As of now, Yingluck's return remains under consideration, and no definitive plans have been set. The delicate balance of political atmosphere and legal considerations will likely influence any future decisions regarding her re-entry into Thai  public  political life,

Sounds like there may be a cat fight brewing and she wants to kick her neice out of the chair

I think I STRONGLY agree with all that above.

I cannot say whether you are right or wrong here, but I cannot imagine countries jailing former PM's for things they did while still in office.

Look at Blair in the UK, if any PM deserved to be jailed it is him, does WMD and Iraq not spring to mind?

I cannot believe that Yingluck has done worse than that, and don't forget the soldier who led an illegal coup and stayed in office here for nine years, protected only by soldiers, guns and tanks.

Neither Yingluck or her brother have done worse than that either.

can we please stop this ridiculous low budget melodrama revolving around this family.

nobody cares.

In that case there would hardly be any politicians left.

I would doubt if any country could be any worse to it's expats than Thailand. Many decent people who have taken Thai families out of poverty and made great contributions to the Thai economy and still being treated like a criminal having to do these ridiculous 90 day reports.

I totally agree.

Thailand treats expats, especially non-immigrants absolutely, appallingly.

Where the hell are our embassies??

about as useful as a chocolate fireguard!

Thankfully I will soon be out of Non-Immigrant status for good - but that process has been nothing but sheer blood, sweat and tears for almost two decades.

Correct but there may be a shortage of neckbraces at present.

You see people like Thaksin and his crime family making a mockery of the Thai justice system and then they expect expats to take the law seriously here?

Absolutely no loss.

And then you see the military making illegal coups every few years and NEVER getting punished and people like you come up with comments like this. What do you expect?

That's all we need is another rich criminal!  It's unbelievable what you can achieve if you're a rich and corrupt politician.
