So what is the $-sign doing here? Just hanging out, maybe.

My thought exactly. No country is worth USD 6 million.

For less there are a number of countries where you can get permanent residency and possibly citizenship. Skip the visa nuisance.

Why would someone who wants to live in Thailand care that they can get residency in other countries?

I looked into the Elite years ago and I seem to remember that the free airport transportation was Bangkok area "only".  Useless if you live outside of Bangkok (as I do).  After dumping my "OA" for the "LTR" life is much simpler.

Its like the fools who feel they have to chip-in when someone advertises their car for 2 Million Baht and they state that the car is just $25,000 in their home country !!!....

They'll never understand the utter irrelevance of their point.

After fast tracking through the airport etc... The transport is 80 km radius from various International Airports....

Those members who live in Areas such as Pattaya might be able to offer how they go about supplementing the difference.

I don't have an opinion of its value, but I suspect it's a lot lower today with all the other options that they have opened up in the past couple of years.

In fact, I recall a couple of fairly recent threads where some Elite Visa holders were rather angry that they had paid so much and now the masses have easy and cheaper options.

Still, for someone that golfs, likes massages and gets a lot of use out of some of the other perks, it's probably well worth it.  I hope the OP can connect with someone like that.  Seems like a win-win.

So still better to invest the equivalent of $178,000 US at 10%.  I average about 16% to 22% long term so rounding down.  Then your money is tied up.  I can sell a stock and move the money in 48 hours if emergency happens.

To each their own.

I did not say that you did.  I did say that you posted an asking price of $6m (dollars)...

The 8 million comes from here on reddit.

I made no reference to "8 million", why are you telling me that?

And the DTV is a better visa.  With the DTV you get 6 months permission to stay.  If I understood correctly, with this ridiculous Elite you only get 3 months, and then you have to extend every 3 months.  Is that right?

If that's correct, sorry OP, but your Elite is completely worthless.

Free golf and massages. Not worthless.

Ok, that's probably correct.  So the only value is whatever the free golf and massages are worth.  So nearly worthless to most people.

Better to try advertising it on a golfing message board.

No, it is not.

There are two types of Visa that come with the Thai Elite Membership:

a) Longer term and earlier memberships: Give an SE Visa - which is a 5 Year Visa sticker...  90 days is given with each entry which requires another 90 day extension of stay every 90 days (if you have not travelled out of the country).

b) Shorter term and (some) later members: Give a PE Visa - which is a 1 Year Visa sticker and is renewable each year until the term of the membership has been completed (in this case 90 day extensions are required, 90 day reports are required).

As the agreements with Immigration are an evolving process, a lot of what is provided with each new 'iteration' or promotions / marketing etc varies...    Thus, to know exactly what type of Visa Sticker you get and whether or not you would need to extend every 90 days or every year depends on membership at that time of purchase.

Thanks, so I think I was correct then.  Since this is an older lifetime membership it seems like it would need to be extended every 90 days?

The newer PE visa is still a 5 year visa sticker but with one year entry stamp. For the longer 20 year memberships this sticker is replaced at each 5 year anniversary.

Someone who uses the services...

I now have a free life time Visa....    because I've already used so much Golf, Massage, AOT Transfers, airport fast tracks, and health checkups....

Nope... its not like that at all.. Its like that to you.

To those truly interested, its not just about the Visa, but the perks that come with membership to.

I don't have to ever prepare a load of Paperwork to submit for my Marriage or Retirement extension.... I simply go to Immigration, give them a card, sing something an its done.

The annoyance of course is the frequency which which I have do do this (theoretically 4x per year) though in over 15 years of TE membership I've only had to do this twice as I travel so much.

6 million baht !!

That is some expensive Golf, Massages, Airport transfers, and medical exams
