Donald’s mafia state

Behold Donald Corleone, the US president who behaves like a mafia boss

But without the principles. Of course, one hesitates to make the comparison, not least because Donald Trump would like it. And because the Godfather is an archetype of strength and macho glamour while Trump is weak, constantly handing gifts to America’s enemies and getting nothing in return. But when the world is changing so fast – when a nation that has been a friend for more than a century turns into a foe in a matter of weeks – it helps to have a guide. My colleague Luke Harding clarified the nature of Vladimir Putin’s Russia when he branded it the Mafia State. Now we need to attach the same label to the US under Putin’s most devoted admirer.

not fought a war in 30 or 40 years”?

These are despicable people, lacking even the morality of the hoodlum – and now they run the country we have regarded as our closest friend since the Edwardian age. Given all that, of course British politics should be contemplating a radical new direction, whether that means an economy rewired for rearmament or a rapprochement with the European Union, given that the world of the Brexit vote of 2016 has vanished and to stand apart from our nearest neighbours is now not only stupid but dangerous. When the planet’s most powerful country has become a mafia state, you do whatever it takes.

IMO most Brits now realise leaving the EU was a mistake.

Nothing wrong with mistakes, as long as one learns from them.

Trump obviously doesn't, he lost the trade war in his first Presidency, and is now repeating history.

Lucky he didn't go to an AC/DC concert. One sight of him and the band would have struck up with riff raff.

I'd have said after Vance tore the European parliament a new one, his most fitting ACDC song would be Big Balls.

Nancys would be - Have a drink on me

Bidens is Night Prowler

Mrs Obama - She's got balls

Adam Schiff - Squealer

The democrats - Meltdown

Musk - Satellite blues

Fauci - Inject the Venom

Zelensky - Shot down in flames

Almost as if AC/DC foresaw the tragedy the democrats led the world into.

Trump never thinks anything through - thus unintended consequences arise from everything he does. Some points nicely put below :-

- "Rooted in ignorance, error, wilful blindness and self-defeating prediction, Trump’s rash actions produce contradictory, harmful and often opposite results to those he says he wants".

"US tariffs are to American prosperity what the Titanic was to ocean travel. Defiant foreign retaliation has brought stock market crashes and inflation fears".

"Trump’s Ukraine surrender policy is another calamity. Russia is the aggressor, yet he punishes the victim . . . The prospective, unintended, consequences of an unjust peace are the undeserved rehabilitation of Russia, de facto amnesty for Putin’s war crimes, a precedent-setting ceding of sovereign territory seized by force, and a deep US-Europe split".

"Perhaps the scariest unlooked-for consequence of Trump’s serial blunders is accelerating nuclear weapons proliferation. Alarmed by his threats to withdraw US protection, and shocked at the betrayal of Ukraine, Germany, Poland and South Korea are all urgently talking about obtaining an atomic bomb".

Extracts from here https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/mar/15/honeymoon-is-over-trump-ukraine-war-tariffs

IN conclusion - "Until him, no US president had been so ignorant of the lessons of history. Until him, no US president had been so incompetent in putting his own ideas into practice . . ."

It's a undeserved 'compliment' to liken Trump to a 'Mafia Boss'.

So if you voted for Trump, supported him or support him now, take a look at yourself. Slinging inane comments about 'lefties' won't save you too, from the ongoing consequences of putting Trump into office.

Lefties is the ad hominem label used by knuckle-draggers and mouth-breathers, when they can't think of a single fact to counter facts and logic.

How anyone can argue tariffs do not cause inflation is beyond my comprehension. It's like saying 2+2=3.

In North Carolina, Trump attacks FEMA and repeats false claims about its response to Helene

Surveying storm damage in North Carolina, former President Donald Trump on Monday blasted federal emergency responders whose work has been stymied by armed harassment and a deluge of misinformation, but he said he was not concerned that the aftermath of Hurricane Helene would affect election results in the battleground state.

Trump was asked whether it was helpful to criticize hurricane relief workers after the Federal Emergency Management Agency recently paused its work in the area because of reports they could be targeted by militia. He responded by again attacking the agency and repeating the falsehood that the response was hampered because FEMA spent its budget helping people who crossed the border illegally, a claim that was debunked weeks ago by U.S. Rep. Chuck Edwards, R-N.C., who stood behind Trump as he spoke.

I would have thought it's better than you supporting Putin on here every day on a forum where most are disgusted at your heros killing spree.

Perhaps you would be more suited to a Putin fanboy forum, because you are getting absolutely nowhere on here.......🤔

Seems you're equally obsessed with king Vlad. You mention him every single time you comment.
