Need Stent Operation - Bangkok Hospital Pattaya or Navy Hospital in Sattahip?

Featured Replies

Insurance is not an issue, because it is a pre-existing issue and not covered by Pacific Cross.

I am interested in service and of course cost.  I hear great things about both hospitals, thus the cheaper is preferred.

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks

It is pretty routine and these doctors get a lot of practice. I would look at the big government hospitals first. Don't take too long though.

  • I am not 100% sure they can do this at Queen Sirikit but if they can, good choice and will cost much less than BPH. Otherwise (or if there is a wait involved) I would suggest Bangkok Christian Hospita

Yes, I have to get it done soon....this is my second stent operation.  Several arteries blocked.

I would choose Queen Sirikit Sattahip, will be a lot cheaper, gets good reports plus as mentioned above Drs get loads of practice

Otherwise (or if there is a wait involved) I would suggest Bangkok Christian Hospital in Bangkok, also much less expensive than BPH. On Sheryl’s advice (detailed, try to look it up) I went to Bangkok Christian Hospital, great doctor, after much testing he said I didn’t need a stent, I went home happy. This was just a couple of weeks after being diagnosed by a recommended cardiologist at a big hospital as needing at least 2 stents, all this without proper examination. At least 300,000 vs the 18,000-23,000 I ended up paying.

St. Louis hospital in Bangkok, Dr Boonsert.

So, same story as usual, big private hospitals insisting on expensive unnecessary treatments, I for one, will be boycotting them for the forseeable future!

Good to know, thanks.

Do you happen to know what it cost, number of stents and how long ago?

I had 2 stents in Queen Sirikit Hospital, Khon Kaen in 2023. Cost was less than 150K. So, I imagine that Queen Sirikit Hospital, Sattahip would be similar cost.

I think it was one stent, 3 years ago, and i vaguely remember 40k baht quoted, I couldn't believe how low it was, emergency treatment, had a heart attack whilst cycling

Doesn't surprise me, I've watched various videos saying hospitals (in US) push stents for money, so probably the same here

40k all in  seems very improbable as  the stent itself costs about that or more.   Maybe 40k for the stent, angiogram and hospitsl stay extra?

Maybe so, I didn't talk to him, friend of a friend, so maybe more add ons

You're meant to pick your own stent?

Yes, you can, with input from the doctor advising which options are appropriate for your situation.

For valve, I had the choice of mechanical, animal, dead people, or animal tissue.

I decided on the beefcake valve to avoid a lifetime of blood thinner.

Yes it does, the cost of my 2 stents were 40K each, the catheters and everything else were itemised and charged in addition.

Price is 300K at Naval Hospital and 370 at BHP.

Includes angioplasty and stents.

That is more than double what I paid at Queen Sirikit Hospital, Khon Kaen in 2023. That also Included angioplasty and stents. I think that it may be worth your while to get a quote from Queen Sirikit Hospital, Sattahip.

How many stents?

Hard to believe Queen Sirikit  Naval Hospital and BPH are that close in price.

Queen Sirikit in Sattahip is the  Naval Hospital.

But I think something off in his cost info, would not be that close to BPH nor that high.
