it's not on here and it isn't in the paper that can't be mentioned. In my province this morning 162 AQI.

Why is it not being talked about/discussed ??

It's a national disgrace Thailand !!

I did. Started a topic yesterday.

It's a weather related phenomenon. There's a high pressure region hovering over central Thailand which tends to trap pollutants.

High atmospheric pressure, often associated with stable weather conditions, can lead to increased air pollution because it creates stagnant air, preventing pollutants from dispersing and allowing them to accumulate at ground level.

Please don't be offended but you and me talking about it here isn't going to change anything.

It needs to be in the national news and in the national newspapers.

Maybe it will push the government to do more.

They are still burning here in my province even though it is banned.

As always, cops do nothing and local government officials do nothing. 😞

They do talk about it in the news. Not much happens.

Every one is desperately trying to ignore it,if they do for a few more weeks the rains will come and problem

solved for another year.

Face saved! and that is more important than anything else.

Only 162?  Relatively clean air.  Almost 300 in Mae Hong Song and over 200 in parts of Lampang.  Generally "Unhealthy" and pushing "Very Unhealthy" in Chiang Mai.

The inversions layer is a contributing factor.  It's the seasonal burning at this time of year that creates the pollution that is then trapped in between.  Inversion layers don't create the smoke.

There is no burning going in our area and hasn't been for some time. It is now actively discouraged in fact.

After 7 years in CNX the current AQI of 151 seem acceptable.  Certainly it is better than the 200+ that was common a few years ago.  Anyway I saw some pepole eating breakfast in the patio and I wonder why?

Where are you ? I also thought that and then looked at the IQ air live map of fires and there are many in the area around me. 😞 Check your area out and you will most likely be surprised.

Only 162 lol. Over 100 is bad for you.

They do in my part of Northeastern Lamphun.  Everybody knows and you do not see any field burning at all.  Forest arson?  Yeah, that's a problem, but right now the surrounding forest of off limits.  Is that enforced.  To the extent that they have overworked forestry cops out looking for it.

You are correct. There appears to be no live fires in your area at all. here are many in Chom Thong, so only a matter of time before the wind changes and it's heading your way. 🙂

It has never been this good in over a decade, in terms of how late it started, how few days it had bad air so far this year, while it usually already ends with songkran. Only now recent days we had worser ones but that is still peanuts compared to the 3-4 weeks of 300-600 levels.

So what are you surprised about? It's entirely logica as it is in fact much better than usual up north.

I don't even need to see the AQI numbers. I opened my slide door this morning (in Pattaya near the beach) and the air stunk as it has for several weeks. We're in the worst time of the year now. We get both stinking hot weather and foul air, at the same time.

But what's the point of worrying or complaining about it? Nothing will change as it has most to do with prevailing winds and weather this time of year. Even if Thailand could help a bit, you've still got Cambodia and Laos to the east sending over vast quantities of smog or smaze. The best option for people concerned about their health is to move to a country with clean air. The Philippines is mostly green on the AQI scale as long as you stay out of the major cities.

Chiang Rai is OK. It got up to 75 in my condo, a rain storm two nights ago pushed it back down to 40.

Sorry, not true. Pollution levels have increased 50% since 4 years ago. The north has the worst of it every year. 😞
