Getting to Suvarnabhumi Airport for 1500hrs flight 15 04 2025 from Buriram province and park

Featured Replies

Yes, I know it was a stupid time to book a flight but, there you go...   Traveling from 90km north of Buriram town to Suvarnabhumi Airport by any means other than a domestic flight (last resort).  My wife said I must go on the 14th to be sure but that would still mean sitting in traffic jams; just 1 day early.  Plus cost of hotel (I am on a budget)

I thought I would get a taxi early in the morning but these may be in short supply.

It is between 6.5 hrs hwys 2&, or 6.5 hrs on hwy 304 (the Pattaya route).  The former has not got many construction marked on google but the latter has lots (so it should be out)

If I have a nap and leave in the early hours (0200, say) of the 15th I should be able to make the outskirts of Bangkok b4 rush hour and have many hours to make my 1500hr flight going along the expressway where there is no construction that I saw last time I was there.

I think that there will be much less traffic at night even during Songkran.  Do you agree or not?  Any other ideas?  Has hwy 304 still got lots of construction?

Parking;  Which parking should I aim for for a 2 week time period (if there is any difference).

Thanks very much in advance for your comments.  🙏

I'd leave at 5.  There will be hardly any traffic at all until Bangkok.  And it's a holiday so even there it will be far less than normal.  I'd take a look at Google maps on the 2 preceding days to see if there are any potential bottlenecks but I doubt anything significant.

Flying from Buriram Airport already some 40km nth of Muaeng Buriram is the obvious thing to do. If you take the Thai Airways morning flight to Don Muaeng you'll be in good time to get to Suwanna by taxi or bus before your o/s flight.

Take the train and an airport hotel. $30 for all I bet.

I would avoid that. Don't go with the flow towards north of Bangkok.

HW 2 and 1 are THE absolute bottleneck to the end of Songkran towards Bangkok.

Even on normal days HW1 is always crowded.

I drove HW 304 last July towards Chachoengsao and can't  remember big trouble with construction.

On the other hand don't expect traffic around Chacheongsao be easy. Always quite busy.

Particularly HW 314 towards M7.

But as it is a holiday at least no school/office traffic etc.

I assume less risky than HW 2 and 1.

Only one construction site shown.

Just seen that the 16th seems an extra holiday.

Might ease the situation a bit.

Thankyouverymuch for your comments.  I just drove up from Phuket a few weeks ago and the biggest construction was on a bridge hwy 2 korat.  My GPS directs me to the AP no matter where I actually intend to go so I should just glide down there no problem.

Is there anything to choose from regards car parks?  Any cheap parking nearby please?

Thanks again.🙏
