Friend in Mae Sariang said goods were falling off the shelves in Lotus and all the lights went out.

Centre of quake in Myanmar (Burma) just north of Pai.

Felt in Petchabun

I just left Big C and was sat in my car ( so felt nothing )  when everyone came streaming out of all doors looking scared. Thought it was a mad gunman on the loose but a passerby said earthqualke.

If the epicentre was that shallow, and that close to Mandalay, the city might be in some serious trouble.  Hell, I felt it here on my 8th floor condo in Si Racha, south of Bangkok. Enough to make me stand up and look around.

I was in a Aquarium shop waiting to pay for my stuff , when I got this

strange feeling come over me , my legs were wobbling , I thought

I was having a heart attack , then all the water in the aquariums

was splashing out ,woman was screaming ,and everybody got out.

On the way home worried about my own Aquariums , and we have

a half built extension ,walls up and plastered , but that was Ok ,and

only one aquarium had splashed water out.

It was not as bad as one quite a few years ago , which had this terrible

roar with it , at first a 747 was going to land on the roof, no noise this time.

regards worgeordie

Mandalay is probably a wreak.

Where was that?

On Twitter it only says "Chatuchak Area".

Seems a high rise under construction.

We're in Pak Thong Chai, Korat and felt nothing at all here. Is the video of the big building collapsing at Bang Sue connected to the earthquake in Myanmar, or a different reason?...OK, I read now it collapsed due to the earthquake. Jesus wept, there's bound to be many lives lost in this.

I'm sitting here at Wongamat Beach and, unless I'm crazy, I didn't feel a thing.

I've lived in California, so I've been through a few earthquakes.  Usually, it's no big deal.  A few things shaken up and then it's over.  I remember 1989 and the big earthquake up in San Francisco, but at the time, I was at a strip club with a friend in San Diego.  We didn't feel anything.  The kinds of earthquakes they usually had in San Diego were no big deal.

In Japan, the building codes are such that earthquakes are expected.  In Thailand, I'm not so sure.  I guess I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I'm trying to find out where it originated.

In Myanmar. Looks like west of Chiang Rai. 7.7 and 10 KM deep.

Looks like definitely connected.
