Get used to this.  As an American I need to register prior to entering the UK and Australia.  Later this year I will need to do this to enter the EU.

At least you won’t need to show a passport to enter Canada Greenland or Panama

How about older people who don't have phones? Will there be a special line for them?

I never had a phone or laptop coming into Thailand.  One female IO said I had to have a phone and even stapled a note in Thai saying "don't allow entry without phone.  Got a free broken in VN and showed it on return.  Male IO laughed and took the note out.

Won't make any difference to the criminals who just waltz in here without trouble.

Immigration should just be on the looking for waltzing travelers then.

Seems like it would be a dead giveaway 🤷🏻‍♂️

So you pick and choose which technology to use.

Don't know why you and others are getting bent out of shape, you either fill in the form or don't come to Thailand...

Oh,  I shall be coming to Thailand, as I have done for over 25 years, still completing a paper FORM TM6 at land border crossings.

I am certainly not getting bent out of shape and what I do is my choice. As far as I am concerned, you can stuff your smartphones up your ............!

They haven't used the paper form in years. It isn't required for entrance and immigration doesn't ask for it anymore.

So will this be used?

july 2020 they stopped TM6 on flights

So my wife is a dual citizen. I guess she won't need it, but as an alien, I don't use my mobile in Thailand and leave it at home, so can I get my wife to do it for me?

I thought the TM6 had been scrapped?

is it back now?

It was suspended, not scrapped, so it will continue to be suspended, back in its suspended mode until it can be scrapped.

It's not called Greenland anymore, it's red white blue land now.

"all foreigners" - so make sure your wife is travelling on a Thai passport. How to get online is not specified - you are required to put in your passport number on the form.

Japan has  a paper system for the lazy / stupid / progress resistant people. It is also a backuop system should the Visit Japan system fail. The paper people are directed to lines where they can stand and wait. The evisa pax breeze through customs and immigration. In my case it took 10 minutes including the lines at HND.

The days of saying no to a mobile device are over. Consider it a requirement to travel no different than visas and passports. Within the next 5 years, flying will depend upon E boarding passes and e linked  boarding gates.  It is happening now. There are no longer paper airline tickets. It is an eticket. A small group of  technology resistant people  cannot  be allowed to disrupt security and efficiency for others.  These are the same people who delay boarding because they don't have a passport and boarding pass ready to present at the gate, or who demand to board early because they are old, despite  paying for and sitting in zone 5.

People with peacemakers cannot use mobile phones. They are neither lazy nor tech resistant.

"Looks like" - I think there will be various problems - firstly people who didn't know about it....

then those who can't get online to fill it in.

those who fill it in incorrectly

the software overloads or crashes.

This '3 days in advance" looks like creating problems.

hopefully there will be a facility at the airport for passengers to fill in the form who didn't get the message

How about those who can't use thai wifi and don't have a Thai SIM or a working SIM?

i suppose they are expecting "hiccoughs" but they will have to turn people away from the immigration kiosk and hopefully have some facility there to help them - but I'm sure it will end up with queues at first.

and then the system crashes......

so this is Thailand and not Japan - you agree there will be people who one way or another are not prepared -will you do yours 3 days in adbvance?

the end result is a back-log of people without the right form  who inevitably are going to form queues for others.

For people who actually live in Thailand and haven’t got any details for their next departure, it will mean filling some fictitious details. Which of course can easily be done.

Red asterix for required information.

...and it has to be done 3 days before arrival?????

If it's designed similar to the Malaysian DAC, one can file it up to three days in advance.

So one would be able to file it day of arrival, day before arrival, or two days prior to arrival day.

(The Malaysian system won't allow one, for example, to file a week in advance.)

Rubbish,  I say no to mobile devices everyday..Japan (everyone)

has a paper backup as they realise that digital is not the be all and end all  and not failure proof..thank goodness they even have notepads and pencils at air traffic control in case the systems go down...positively stone age ehh ?

More rubbish  security and efficiency  effected by not having a mobile phone ??

what security ??

I suppose you will be first inline for the implanted digital ID card/gps tracker/health tracker/social credit and carbon score checker  for your own "security"

of course soon after that there will be no need for travel   you can just plug into the "metaverse"  and go wherever and do whatever  from the comfort of your pod !!   🤢

I haven't filled in an entry card for year's just straight through with passport, I thought they got rid of them, in the old days you couldn't find them had to ask for one and remember to carry your own pen as they were scarce as well, I go through the over 70s now with my thai family

Thailand is scrapping its much-dreaded TM6 arrival form,

Oh how I dreaded it. Being forced to mark paper with a pen. Many sleepless nights over it and if I finally fell asleep....nightmares and waking up in a cold sweat short of breath and in a panic.

Dreaded does not really cover it. Terrifying tm6 is closer to the reality

A phone is not a requirement.  Before arriving to complete the form online.  You get a receipt.  Print it.  You can ask your wife to carry the printout if you want.

Thailand is planning to implement an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system for visa-exempt visitors June 2025

https://www.fragomen.com/insights/thailand-electronic-travel-authorization-requirement-for-visa-exempt-nationals-forthcoming.html#:~:text=The situation, may affect the ETA timeline.

If it is implement the same way as the Malaysian MDAC where

First-Time Registration: Upon arrival, first-time users from eligible countries must register their passports at a manual counter, after which they can use the autogates for subsequent trips.

Then it will be possible to enter and leave Thailand using automated immigration clearance gates without ever

queuing to see an  immigration officer if you have both  TDAC and ETA

Oh dear - aren't you the 'clever, clever' and articulate foreigner.

So, if we are not digitally 'clever' dickheads like maybe you consider yourself as being, (you clever, clever, clever man), everyone else is lazy or stupid?

Take a long, hard look at yourself buster, before you consider everyone else as stupid.
