Well, this is some encouraging news but I have a strong feeling this is not even a dent in this systemic issue of Pattaya attracting all manner of scumbags from across the Earth.

-Human trafficking

-drugs

-Scam call centers

-Online gambling

what am I missing?

Yourself?

Do you think that a Hong Kong mafia guy is telling his girlfriend/wife or anybody that he killed a person?

But, of course you needed to put the blame on the Thais.

From Hong Kong? The tattoos on the man in the image appear to be inspired by traditional Japanese Irezumi. The bold, intricate patterns covering his chest, shoulders, and arms resemble classic Japanese full-body or sleeve tattoos, often associated with Yakuza culture. These designs typically feature mythological creatures, koi fish, samurai, and other elements deeply rooted in Japanese tattoo tradition.

His tattoos have swirling patterns, floral elements, and possibly mythical or traditional imagery, further reinforcing the connection to Irezumi. Japanese tattoos are known for their detailed and colorful designs, frequently covering large areas of the body, such as the chest, back, and arms. They often incorporate motifs like koi fish, dragons, and cherry blossoms, all of which align with the style seen here. The use of bold lines and shading also points to this cultural origin.

I said in the beginning that the OLOA (open legs, ope arms) visa policy was going to attract members of both the Russian Bratva and the Chinese Triads, so there should be no surprise that they're playing their trade here. The authorities invited them in their utter desperation to increase arrival numbers, now they're paying a price for it.

Truong sounds Vietnamese

It is.  Probably ethnic Chinese refugee ejected from Vietnam during the "Boat People" crisis and settled in Kowloon.

And those tats makes him a Japanese Yakuza enforcer, probably at war with the Hong Kong Triads.

Do the Thais only know "mafia" for every criminal?

The underpants are not the underpants of a killer, I imagine, as never seen  a killer's shreddies

Truong is Chinese for Zhang. Viet people who carried that surname are mostly Chinese descent.

It wouldn't surprise me that's the reason the Triad took him in or that he gravitated into the Chines gangs.

The suspect, known as Mr. Truong, 25, fled to Thailand after the murder.

Seems to be a favoured hiding place.

Very interesting, I didn't know you could "dust" for tattoo's. I think if we look harder his passport number tattoo'd on his taint.
