Questioned about my underwear at a Police checkpoint.

I was about to drive off when he grabbed my arm and said 'wait a minute, my friend. Are you wearing underpants?'

Stunned I replied, 'of course I am, do you want to see?'

He laughed and said 'No thanks, have a good day....'

What does the above quote have in common with the pic below?

These cops in Thailand are just a corrupt bunch who are always looking to pick on anyforeigner available to racket and extort. Wear a helmet next time with a shaded visor or sun shades,  so that the corrupt BIB cannot see who is driving.

Interesting how just the yesterday I posted about not wearing underwear in public is an obscure Thai law on one of the OP"s threads (tits out on beach) and here's Bob ooops I mean BLM fem I mean Don posting how this happened to him today. Bob/Don/BLM fem you are very tedious.

My post from yesterday:

Not quite on topic but it's illegal not to wear underwear in public. An odd law but TIT. As for tits out that's illegal. What should also be illegal are blokes walking around with no tops on.

Can you point to the specific section of Thai law that prohibits an individual from leaving the house without wearing any underwear?

Thanks.

The Don.

No real need, this has been confirmed many times before.

Different culture different attitudes and laws.

In some parts of Australia it's illegal to drive any vehicle wearing thongs (on your feet).

Obviously, that did not happen.

It's apparently illegal to be out in public without underwear (or to drive without a shirt) :whistling:

Yet no one's ever been able to quote the relevant underwear law.  Wonder why?

He can't.

You emphasise it even though there is no such law making non-wearing of underwear illegal.

No, it has not been confirmed as true, ever.   Just because AN members keep posting it doesn't make it factual.

Best you contact The Thaiger and get them to retract this:

5. It is against the law in Thailand to “go commando.” It is actually illegal to go in public without underwear in the Kingdom. It’s the law. If you do, you could (theoretically) wind up in jail.

New member, and over 130 posts in a week, and now you come up with this piece of unbelievable rubbish.

A Thai policeman actually said "wait a minute, are you wearing underpants" and " No thanks, have a good day". Thai police just don't talk like that.

At least your amazing posts gives many of the AN posters many laughs for the day. 😂

I guess he changes his username regularly after being blocked by many posters time and time again. i enjoy reading his posts. They lighten the mood.

No such law exists or has ever existed in Thailand. That's an urban myth which pre-dates the Internet.   The Thai Criminal Code, under Petty Offenses, states in Section 388:  Whoever, doing any shameful act in public by indecently exposing oneself’s person, or by committing any other act of obscenity shall be liable to a fine not exceeding five hundred Baht.

https://www.legal.co.th/resources/thailand-criminal-code/book3/thailand-criminal-code-page-70-book-iii-petty-offences-section-376-385/

It's a real stretch to think that makes illegal the failure to wear underclothing beneath outer clothing.  The "commando connection" supposedly came when a  female farang tourist wasn't wearing a bra beneath a sheer blouse in public.  An unconfirmed story I heard back in the 1980s said she was arrested for indecent exposure, hence the notion it's illegal not to wear underwear.  That story has been repeatedly numerous times on the Internet, sometimes sarcastically, sometimes as fact. But it has never been true.

So there is no official law on the books, is there?

I mean, I couldn't be arrested, taken to court and tried for not wearing my kecks, could I?

The Don.

The Thai laws on public decency have been used to arrest people for 'going commando'.

In the same was as your friendly immigration officer can conjure up the need for a previously unheard of document, or the traffic cop can select a farang-driver for having an overloaded pickup while ignoring the top-heavy ones driven by the locals going past, the cops can charge you with public decency disorder.

That's why, when he couldn't issue a ticket for anything else, he tried the 'no nickers' wild card.

I mostly go commando.

Had a schduled docs vist last week, had to get a ultrasound done.

Usual take of shirt, lay down on bed ... yadda yadda yadda.

Nurse covered me with a towel, got a second towel and proceeded to tuck it into the top of my shorts.... she got quiet the surprise when she realised I had no underwear on !

I have been pulled when my sons set up their own Membership on my PC, same IP address, same browser etc etc. So how does Bob, or anyone else, get away with it?

Please explain how my commenting on your mis-spelling, and asking you to go to where you said you are going, can be construed as racist.

That's far more information than we need about your Soi 6 escapades.

Meanwhile, what time today will you be launching your next two or three Pats hangover windups there, The Bob?

He's kind of stitched himself up with this persona.  He started wanting to be a really positive and optimistic expat living in Japan but occasionally holidaying in Thailand.  Then he immediately went back to an unhappy expat living in Thailand moaning about made-up stories every day.
