While reading the start of the report I thought it sounded a bit 'pro Thai van driver' and was about to comment that we don't know what happened 'before the merging' and how the van driver had been behaving.

then I watched the clip and OMG. that roid thug really is a nasty piece of work, and if the locals don't find and get to him first, the legal system will.

I'm not generally one to jump on the band wagon, but this prick needs to be taught a lesson.

Similar thoughts here - we have the 'van drivers story'...   and they [van drivers] are rather notorious for their reckless driving.

... But then, like you I watched the video and there is simply no excusing the foreigners escalation... Firstly to cut off the van driver and stop in front of him and then to get out and escalate to violence.

They'll catch the foreigner (from his license plate), this will cost him.

Do you notice these hugs never take on anyone bigger than themselves. Look at the size comparison between the foreigner and the Thais   Speaks volumes.  Throw  the foreigner out.

And with Thai guys, it's often 5 on 1, or 10 on 1. Beating until unconscious, then stomping on the head. Neither side behaving honorably.

How do you know he went to retrieve a weapon? Maybe his pizza was getting cold.

You can see him holding something in his left hand. What ever it was he was holding it it before he was hit. He didn't go to his car to retrieve it.

Stop in front and get out and escalate. But he is parked behind not in front of.

I think Benz drivers (per capita) are worse than the van drivers - particulalry when I'm driving up country.  I've been cut off many, many times by Benz drivers. Watch them drive to the BKK airport as just one nearby example.

Anyway, I hope Tyson/Yuri face justice and kicked out of the country.

I hope it's the locals that find him and they make sure he understands his mistake.

Like clockwork. Like a Rolex.

Those terrible reckless van drivers.

I now know that if a farang attacks a Thai there must be something that the Thai did wrong first that is never reported.
Thanks for educating me Richard.

It always amazes me how some people never read story before making up their own.

A shocking road rage ordeal unfolded on April 7 in Phuket when a foreign tourist allegedly punched a Thai van driver during a heated traffic dispute in Ratsada district.

Saroj Jakthong reported to Phuket City Police that the tourist attacked him on Chaloem Phra Kiat Rama 9 Road, leaving Saroj with a sore ear and prompting a medical check-up as part of a police inquiry.

The incident, captured on a dashboard camera, is making waves on social media. The video shows the tourist overtaking Saroj's van in a bold move, then cutting him off and coming to an abrupt stop. The situation spiralled out of control when the tourist confronted Saroj, delivering a blow that knocked him down.

Saroj recounted the incident, noting it occurred around 9:10 PM on April 6, as he navigated through a lane merge near Premium Outlet. A Ford pickup truck unexpectedly overtook and cut him off, prompting Saroj to honk in warning.

Instead of defusing the situation, the pickup driver veered erratically, intensifying tensions. An individual in another van captured the entire saga on video, lending crucial evidence to Saroj’s complaint.

Attempting to communicate politely, Saroj advised the tourist to exercise caution, only to be met with instant aggression.

The foreigner's actions reportedly left Saroj momentarily stunned, and as the offender sped away, Saroj dialed emergency services, but a swift resolution was elusive.

Though able to obtain video proof, Saroj faced a delay in obtaining medical documentation, crucial for formal complaint proceedings.

In a twist, the accused tourist later extended an apology through a Thai wai gesture at the police station. Nevertheless, Saroj remains unwavering in his pursuit of justice, opting to advance legal actions against the foreign visitor.

Authorities continue to examine the evidence, including the widely circulated dashcam footage, as they tread through this turbulent episode.

How do they know that he is a tourist?

The Investigation Division of Phuket City Police Station quickly identified the perpetrator as Mr. Joseph Millward, a 31-year-old British tourist who had been granted permission to stay in Thailand for tourism purposes until April 22.

I was going to predict a Brit but didn’t want to accused again.
There is something seriously wrong with us.

The other Brit attacker on Sunday who had the knife, was throwing petrol bottles at Thais and pushed the kids off the motorbike was also in his 30’s.

As were the Soi 6 brawlers and many others.

Some will claim it is an isolated incident.

But we don’t seem to mature, grow up, have common decency or manners anymore.

But endlessly complain about the immigrants.

Disgusting violent idividual. Thinks he owns the road and everyone should obey him. The arrogrant SOB thought he could garner favor by extending  an apology through a Thai wai gesture at the police station,  Jail him,  make him pay a heavy fine and then give him life time ban.

Before 2022, such occurrences were extremely rare, now they are almost daily.

What is causing an increasing number of people to go nuts in recent times? Their brain is clearly affected by something.
