Trump Warns Israel Would Lead Strike if Iran Refuses to Abandon Nuclear Ambitions

U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning, stating that Israel would take the lead in any potential military strike against Iran should Tehran refuse to abandon its nuclear weapons program. Speaking ahead of high-stakes talks in Oman between American and Iranian officials, Trump made it clear that military action remains on the table if diplomatic efforts fail.

“If it requires military, we’re going to have military,” Trump declared. “Israel will obviously be very much involved in that. They’ll be the leader of that. But nobody leads us, but we do what we want to do.”

The comments come as Iran inches closer than ever to developing a functional nuclear weapon, intensifying concerns in Washington. While Trump did not commit to a specific timeline for the current negotiations, he expressed skepticism about the direction they’re heading. “When you start talks, you know, if they’re going along well or not,” he said. “And I would say the conclusion would be what I think—they’re not going along well. So that’s just a feeling.”

The talks in Oman are expected to involve U.S. and Iranian officials, although there remains a discrepancy over the format. Trump has characterized the discussions as “direct,” whereas Iran has insisted they are “indirect.”

Back in 2015, a nuclear deal was reached between Iran and several world powers, placing strict limits on Iran’s uranium enrichment in exchange for the easing of economic sanctions. However, in 2018, Trump withdrew the U.S. from the agreement, calling it the “worst deal ever.” Subsequent efforts under President Joe Biden to revive the deal through indirect negotiations in Vienna in 2021 failed to produce a resolution.

Amid these ongoing tensions, the U.S. Treasury Department announced a new round of sanctions targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. The measures cited five Iranian entities and one individual for their roles in supporting the nuclear program. Among those sanctioned were the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran and several affiliated companies, including Iran Centrifuge Technology Company, Thorium Power Company, Pars Reactors Construction and Development Company, and Azarab Industries Co.

Despite the mounting pressure, Trump struck a somewhat conciliatory note when addressing Iran’s future. “I want Iran to be great,” he said. “The only thing that they can’t have is a nuclear weapon. They understand that.”

Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reiterated his country’s stance against developing nuclear arms. “We are not after a nuclear bomb,” he said on Wednesday, adding an economic olive branch by expressing openness to American investment in Iran should a deal be reached. In a speech in Tehran, Pezeshkian referenced Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s approval for such an initiative. “His excellency has no opposition to investment by American investors in Iran,” he said. “American investors: Come and invest.”

Pezeshkian’s remarks signal a potential shift in tone from Iran’s earlier post-2015 approach, when interest in American products such as aircraft clashed with internal policies effectively barring U.S. business operations. As talks resume, the outcome remains uncertain, but the stakes are higher than ever.

USA and Israel threatening a sovereign nation....who would have guessed.

To those here who call the US a bully and sympathise with the mad mullahs with their nuclear war bunkers, ask yourselves: If Iran manages to produce nuclear weapons, would they use them? If they use them, what will happen to mankind? You are a part of mankind, remember. Maybe it's better to prevent the mad mullahs from producing nuclear weapons.

The Doomsday Clock is now set to 89 seconds to midnight which is the closesr it has ever been to midnight signifying an unprecended risk to humanity. The clock's position reflects the severity of global threats like nuclear war and climate change both which have Trump's dirty fingerprint on them.

Not a good idea to telegraph war plans, especially for other countries. What if Iran attacks first? Or Russia?

According to the IAEA  Iran is in full compliance  it does not posses nuclear weapons at the moment  but could do in a short time    however that would be very difficult to achieve without throwing out the IAEA inspectors first...so when they throw out the inspectors  is time to worry  and Israel and US have a few weeks to launch their own low yield nuclear first strike against Iran's enrichment facilities...and then.......??????

The Doomsday clock is at its most percarious position under his watch. Under Biden, the clock was at 90 seconds to midnight. The world is safer under Biden than Trump.

Are you aware that Iran is a military ally of Russia, with close economic ties? Maybe Putin won't like his buddies getting bombed, or even nuked. Trump should back off. He keeps breaking every commitment he made, including No More War. Has anybody made a list yet? What happened to 'The Big Beautiful Wall'? That seems to have crumbled to dust.

Americans are fools, being manipulated and controlled by the Zionist regime, and Donny is just another boot licker for them.

I wish they would hurry up and get it over with.

When the Muslim riots in Europe start, maybe they will do something about the Muslim invasion that threatens them.

BTW Irans airspace is in our strategic interest.

No war with Russia because Trump is owned by Russia, both in cash and compromat. Putin is happy to let Trump dismantle NATO and the US.

Being a Russian satellite is not a good thing. It is appalling that so many believe it is OK to vote for a felon.

Ask yourself why it is OK for Israel to have nuclear weapons but no no other country in the region is allowed to have them?

does Israel have nuclear weapons?

Yes, it is widely believed that Israel possesses nuclear weapons, although the Israeli government maintains a policy of "nuclear ambiguity" and neither confirms nor denies having such weapons. Estimates suggest Israel has a nuclear stockpile of approximately 90 warheads. While not a party to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), Israel is considered to have developed a nuclear arsenal capable of delivery by missiles, aircraft, and possibly submarines.

Israel is estimated to have a nuclear stockpile of approximately 90 warheads; while production of plutonium for weapons purposes is thought to be continuing.

On the basis of unconfirmed reports, Israel could be in possession of the nuclear triad for delivery of its nuclear capability.

This short paper is intended as an introduction to Israel’s nuclear weapons policies and programmes, as far as is known from publicly available sources. It is part of a series of country profiles which are available on the House of Commons Library website.

Perhaps Iran needs to defend itself from Israel and the USA.

U have no doubt that the Trump supporters on here will deny that, but which is the only country in the world which has actually dropped nuclear weapons during a war?

If the USA wants the region nuclear free, let him start with Israel, and remove ALL their nuclear weapons and capabilities. At this time Israel is the biggest threat to the region and the world.

In the case of Iraq  they did not have WMDS   and even if they did

(they didn't) those accusing them would have known because they are the ones who would have sold them to Iraq in the first place hypocrites.
