Yes, I know what it is. It´s a milder expression of stupidity, because some need to live in a soft and sheltered world that keeps them out of the harsh reality.

Your comment dismissing human error as merely "a milder expression of stupidity" is not just insensitive but dangerously misinformed.
Human error in road safety isn't about coddling people or avoiding “harsh realities” — it's about acknowledging the complexities of human behaviour and it’s universality in humans all over the world – Yes – that includes you. It than follows that it’s about designing systems that account for them and mitigate the results.
Every major transportation safety authority in the world, from the World Health Organization to national road safety boards, recognizes that people make mistakes. That doesn’t make them stupid — it makes them human. Fatigue, distraction, momentary lapses in judgment, or even poorly designed infrastructure can lead to catastrophic outcomes. The goal of modern road safety isn't to pretend these don't happen; it's to reduce the harm when they do.
Calling that "a sheltered world" is missing the point entirely. It's not about sheltering people from reality — it's about responding to reality with empathy, responsibility, and smart policy. The real stupidity lies in refusing to address preventable deaths and injuries because of a misguided belief that only the flawless deserve protection.
If you have any doubts, then check out the countries employing the “Safe System” and variants for road safety.
BTW – just because you don’t know about it, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist

Ok, then, why do some countries and it´s population have a higher rate of fatalities than other countries?

Seriously?? - after all that's been said???? -  do you not realise that this has already been discussed at length, and frankly, your take shows you're completely out of touch with decades of road safety science. Countries with lower fatality rates don’t have “smarter” people — they have better road design, enforcement, infrastructure, and policies. It’s not about opinions or blaming individuals. It’s about who actually gives a damn and builds systems that protect people. Catch up.

And in your opinion, that does not make them smarter?

in your initial comment you are referring to the Swedish driver and human error, you now seem to have changed your tune - I have already explained how blaming the driver is pointless. So who are you referring to now and why?

Still blaming the driver, as I am oblivious to your explanation

so you are saying Thai drivers are inherently more stupid than other countries?

Isn't he saying Swedish drivers are inherently more stupid than those of other countries?

The stupidity of those Swedes probably explains why Sweden has so many road fatalities, in 2023 229 dead, that's about 7 times more than Ban Kruat!

Sweden is aiming for Vision Zero -  a road safety approach aiming to eliminate all traffic fatalities and severe injuries, with the ultimate goal of zero deaths on roads. THe basis for this is the Safe System - the first thing it recognises is you don't play the blame gain as ALL drivers worldwide are equally liable to human error and then road safety is a public health issue - he admits to ignoring everything I've written. - " I am oblivious to your explanation" -  What he does understand is these are my ideas, I just reporting the long held truths of world renown road safety experts over the past 50 years or more.

PS - think this definition of "oblivious" sums him up - not aware of or concerned about what is happening around one - he's self-destined to be stupid

Aaah, the old reaching for a water bottle story.

Perhaps, fell asleep at the wheel or texting on telephone.

In general yes! That is what I am saying. They are more unconcentrated, make stupid decisions, take more risks and generally lacks proper driving education. However, this time it was a Swede who made the wrong decision. Luckily, he did not kill anybody.

What you with sarcasm are showing here is of course right. Sweden have one of the lowest road death mortality rates per 100 000 in population in the world. We have about 2,1-2,2/100 000. That while Thailand has 25,5/100 000. If you look at the raw numbers, without thinking about it, it looks horrible. However, you must factor with road quality, driving education as well as overcrowded streets that creates more dangers. Another factor is mindset, enforcing of laws as well as the level of punishment. As a result, the Swede should have been thinking more and made a better decision.

you seem to be having touble with deciding who is stupid....all Thai people or this Swede.... I think using this kind of racist logic, you will never get an answer.

Racist logic????? Please develop that, so I know where it was racist.

After that, the Swede is of course wrong. At the same time, far too many Thais drive very stupid. So, i guess I don´t have to decide, as the answer will be both. But, you didn´t think about that, right? Because that was not logical for you.

Why is it a that racists always argue that thinks they say aren't racist?

You've cherry-picked Gottfrid's words, distorting his point to fit your tired, self-righteous narrative. He explicitly wrote “Both” - a clear reference to poor driving habits among both Swedes and Thais. That’s not racism; it’s a simple, unvarnished observation. But of course, nuance is lost on someone so eager to parade their moral outrage.

Let’s be honest - a great many 'people' here drive like utter lunatics and carryout stupid manoeuvres. That’s a fact, not a racial slur. Yet you seem incapable of engaging in any discussion on road safety without hurling accusations of racism like confetti. It’s your go-to move - a cheap, hollow attempt at point-scoring through virtue-signalling theatrics.

And then, inevitably, you start lecturing everyone else - insisting they don’t understand road safety, or critical thinking, as if you’re some omniscient authority. Tiresome doesn’t begin to cover it.

You sound like a broken record - so buried in your own sanctimony, you can’t see the forest for the trees.

So you are going to take the racist stance too? Most racist can't tell racism from a fact either - "That’s a fact, not a racial slur."

Blame might feel satisfying, but it doesn't fix anything. Crashes happen because systems fail—roads, policies, vehicles—not just individuals. Focus on blame, and you miss the chance to prevent the next one.

Lots of very bad drivers yes. Mostly motorbike riders and bus drivers.

What is racist with saying that Thais drive stupid? That´s an expression of a well known fact.

If I had a water bottle drop in front of me while I was driving, I would definitely stop to pick it up and not try to fumble for it while driving. But then I have been driving in my work a lot in the past, in awkward weather conditions at times, so know that safety is first...
