Sweden is aiming for Vision Zero -  a road safety approach aiming to eliminate all traffic fatalities and severe injuries, with the ultimate goal of zero deaths on roads. THe basis for this is the Safe System - the first thing it recognises is you don't play the blame gain as ALL drivers worldwide are equally liable to human error and then road safety is a public health issue - he admits to ignoring everything I've written. - " I am oblivious to your explanation" -  What he does understand is these are my ideas, I just reporting the long held truths of world renown road safety experts over the past 50 years or more.

 

PS - think this definition of "oblivious" sums him up - not aware of or concerned about what is happening around one - he's self-destined to be stupid

In general yes! That is what I am saying. They are more unconcentrated, make stupid decisions, take more risks and generally lacks proper driving education. However, this time it was a Swede who made the wrong decision. Luckily, he did not kill anybody.

What you with sarcasm are showing here is of course right. Sweden have one of the lowest road death mortality rates per 100 000 in population in the world. We have about 2,1-2,2/100 000. That while Thailand has 25,5/100 000. If you look at the raw numbers, without thinking about it, it looks horrible. However, you must factor with road quality, driving education as well as overcrowded streets that creates more dangers. Another factor is mindset, enforcing of laws as well as the level of punishment. As a result, the Swede should have been thinking more and made a better decision.

Lots of very bad drivers yes. Mostly motorbike riders and bus drivers.

If I had a water bottle drop in front of me while I was driving, I would definitely stop to pick it up and not try to fumble for it while driving. But then I have been driving in my work a lot in the past, in awkward weather conditions at times, so know that safety is first...
