We also could stop selling desks to foreigners that have no intention of staying and paying premiums. We don't need to educate the Chinese to basically go home and reverse engineer everything to their advantage.

Limit the amount of seats to those that are vetted and candidates for citizenship.

Maybe we don't want the guy chanting death to Israel in our nuclear physics classes to begin with.

Talk about avoiding a rational discussion of the topic. Very typical of his supporters.

Why educate people, that ultimately might be your foes? So Harvard can make bank? Do you think China would give all their STEM advancements to us if the shoe was on the other foot? It's basically national security at this point.

I didn't vote for Trump.

I count 6 Socialists and two loons. Thank you for affirming that Socialism is a political philosophy that mandates death and dictatorship.

Yes, there has been success at the border if the sole measurement is  interdictions.  However, what is not discussed is at what cost and whether the current effort is sustainable. The 2025  for just the US CBP is $19.8Billion; for 68,069 employees. Add in the other  deployed assets from the  military,  FBI, ATF, DOJ, DOT and NSA and I think there is another $1 Billion+ spent.

Resources have been  diverted from the ports to the land borders with the result that fewer cargo shipments are being  checked. This is why drugs are still entering the USA and why so many stolen vehicles and restricted items are  still leaving the USA.  Immigration reform is needed as the article states, and what is needed more is addressing the reasons why there is a problem at the southern border. The central American countries and Mexico have to do more.

And here is one of the  quiet issues that has gone under reported  in the tariff war. The tariffs have made central America  a desirable location to set up  garment  and low tech manufacturing operations. If the garment manufacturing is transferred from SE Asia to Latin America, employment will be created and the poverty and lack of opportunity that drives migration can be blunted.

So the chief justification for deporting immigrants was it they were stealing American jobs. So if they're allowed legally to return I guess that would mean they wouldn't be stealing jobs and therefore American workers wouldn't be hurt?

Maybe if Congress had passed Biden's comprehensive immigration reform or border security funding during his term, instead of playing politics and dancing to Trump's tune. all of this would have been achieved years ago.

No reform was needed. Biden sucked.

Thanks as a foreign citizen non American perhaps it’s hard for you to understand that things aren’t done by lying invoking archaic laws that really aren’t appropriate for this issue deporting people off the streets without due process sending them to a foreign supermax please excuse us normal Americans that see this as something that we learned about in history kinda like the Nazi regime did.

You can't even admit Trump stopped the open border policy of Biden's failed presidency.

That's all you got? Just admit Trump did good on the border.

And if the U.S. wants to lead in AI and tech, why are H-1B visas for skilled workers capped and distributed by lottery?

This^^ begs investigation into America's higher educational institutions by itself. BUT, I also agree that the H-1B needs an overhaul. There should only be 2 categories: Skilled and Unskilled.

ALL skilled category H-1B visa's should be handled like applying for a job. They send their resumes in, the company validates and interviews via teleconference. The company then sponsors the applicant to USCIS and they screen and double check background. IF approved, the employer accepts FULL responsibility and liability for the applicant's actions. These should be reviewed twice a yr for up to 5yrs. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Unskilled could be run by USCIS at the boarder. The farmer (for example) sends in his request for 80 workers. USCIS screens 80 workers, puts them on buses and sends them to the farmer. He counts and signs off. When the harvest is over they're picked up by buses and driven home.

Weigh the costs against what we're now spending to clean up our country and do what should have been done decades ago. :wai:
