webfact Posted April 20 Posted April 20 Picture courtesy of Thai Rath Captain Thammanat Prompow, known for his own "gangster’s heart," recently joined the Kla Tham Party's campaign in support of Kongkiat Kaewsombat, or "Big O," in the Nakhon Si Thammarat by-election for Constituency 8. Speaking in Chang Klang District, Thammanat assured voters of Kongkiat’s determination and reliability, positioning him as a steadfast voice for the people. The rally took place at 5 PM on 20th April 2025, featuring Thammanat, now chief adviser for the Kla Tham Party, along with significant party figures like MPs Samphan Mayuso from Narathiwat and Attachai Sirilattayakorn from Chachoengsao. They gathered to secure support for Big O, running under number 5 in this crucial election. During his speech, Thammanat highlighted Kongkiat’s straightforward and loyal character, qualities introduced to him by former political figure, Pong-Sak Jaekao. Thammanat emphasised that Kongkiat exemplifies the party’s values of integrity and commitment, assuring constituents he wouldn’t merely engage in empty rhetoric but act meaningfully on their behalf. He stressed that effective MPs must actively address pressing local issues, such as flooding and drought, and urged candidates to remain engaged with their communities beyond election season. Assessing Kongkiat's performance as a provincial council member, Thammanat expressed confidence in his capability to represent Nakhon Si Thammarat's Constituency 8 effectively, highlighting thorough evaluation processes. Despite his northern roots, Thammanat fondly recounted his youth in Narathiwat, aligning himself with the southern culture, praised for its sincerity and decisiveness—traits he holds in high regard. Thammanat concluded with a powerful reminder: politicians are servants of the public, bound to honesty and accountability. "Many might see me as a gangster, but I am straightforward and honour my commitments," he affirmed, pledging genuine service to the community. Where's the link saying that the Thai gov't made this statement? There is no such link. But in the past when this was raised with PM prayut, his response was that it was in another country therefore not relevant.
