Walking around the malls in Bangkok, I'd say - 1 in 20 to 1 in 10 couples, holding hands or the wife (or GF) holding the husbands (or BF's) arm...    Thats probably a similar number to the UK...   and doesn't really highlight a significant social difference from that specific perspective....

I've been with MrsG for decades.

 

Of course we hold hands at times, but it's generally in intimate situations, and no I don't mean sex.

 

But we're not teenagers and walking in the street, I'd say she'll hold my arm, which is sweet and an appropriate show of affection for folks of our age

My Thai exes were both much more willing to show affection in public than I have ever been. At least they didn't hold back at all.

Correct. As you know most Thais are incredibly self conscious and scared of what others think. Some of it has to do with just a very tribal mentality some of it has to do with a lack of self-esteem. 

 

If you're lucky you get a good one who's open to change and Improvement. If you are incredibly fortunate you get one who is the same lovely woman from one day to the next. She has a smile on her face when she wakes up in the morning. Never experienced that in the states. Some Thais manifest that unbearable lightness of being, that is so delightful to be around. I cannot really get enough of that spirit, and feel so blessed to be around that, and to have found such a well adjusted and delightful creature.

That's quite a loaded question and it would probably take about 2 days to answer it properly, but I think it's safe to say that we're all looking for specific qualities, somebody who has your back, somebody who is devoted, kind, loving, affectionate, honest, caring, has a great sense of humor and a playful spirit, and a lot of fun to be around. The list goes on and on. Mine came from a very good family, really solid people, and she's just a very kind, decent human being.

 

I realize I got lucky but for those of us with self-esteem we owe it to ourselves to spend the time and display the patience required to find one who is truly worthy of our devotion, don't you agree?

Yea, most of the time, I'm walking around in short pants, since comfy.   Usually just me and the dog knocking around,  few people about.   If going shopping or out to eat, then long pants.   

 

Never wear t-shirts any more, or when I was younger.   Always a button down collar shirt, parents rules and stuck.   Had a short t-shirt phase.

 

I don't have knobby knees, and the young girls still smile at me 😉

So you have spent time on campus conducting a "study" and collecting "data" on how many couples there were on campus and how many were holding hands etc.  Do the management of the campus know that they have a potential pervert on campus?

Did you also conduct the same sort of "studies" in other areas of CM and the rest of Thailand?

 

Please do not bother to publish your so called "data" as so called "proof" of your warped so called mind.

Not really sure about this just about every Thai girl I date has no issues with affection in public.  In fact, many times they initiate it.

I absolutely agree, and as you say, it is a long and complicated list of qualities that is particular and very individual, what one person finds important another may not. I was just wondering if there are common threads, qualities that all men seek, and I think there are. The things you mentioned like devotion, ie loyalty, kindness, affectionate nature, caring, fun an humour, I would say these are universal.

The US and the UK are by far the most tolerant countries in the world when it comes to the whole trans, non-binary, amorosexual, decide whatever you want today, if it fits mentality. No other countries are as loose, driftless, and as silly as the US, and the UK. 

 

When a woman devotes her entire youth to a sport, and becomes one of the best in that particular area, and then a man comes along who decides to identify as a woman, and steals all the awards, all the victories, and all the accolades, something is not right in society. Something is broken, society has become morally bankrupt, and there has to be a pause, there has to be an interruption of the nonsense.

 

No woman would survive more than 30 minutes in the NFL. Women will not participate in men's sports because they won't be able to handle the physical endurance required, nor the brutality, nor the talent level. A woman ranked #5 on the WTA could not beat a #758 man on the ATP as John McEnroe so truthfully stated.

 

Hopefully all this craziness will pass and we'll return to some form of normalcy and indecency.

Maybe it is OK in some tourist areas to touch when walking.

But, I think it might NOT be OK in other areas of Thailand.

 

Sometimes, I feel like squeezing, pinching, even goosing,...and not just touching.

But, I never do.

Not even playfully.

I think your no touching premise is dated 

 

Holding hands has been okay and is very prevalent in Thai society. Also being close together.  Arm around waist seems to be catching on

 

 

For me holding hands is constant as I am touchy feely
