Trump’s trade war olive branch met with derision and mistrust inside China

"“The unilateral tariff hikes were initiated by the US. If the US truly wants to resolve the issue, it should heed the rational voices of the international community and its own domestic stakeholders, fully remove all unilateral tariff measures against China, and find a way to resolve differences through equal dialogue,” he added.

Chinese officials also denied the two sides are speaking. Trump told reporters on Wednesday there were direct talks between US and Chinese officials “everyday” on trade, though he didn’t offer specifics."

I guess his lips were moving.

Chinese always mistake kindness for weakness. Vietnamese too, if you tip they laugh at you.

Funny, I've been to Vietnam several times and never have I been laughed at, and certainly not when tipping. In fact, I once hired a guide for the customary Vietnam War tour outside Saigon and didn't tip him as he was fairly useless and he got downright hostile.

So are you sure it was the tipping they laughed at and not something else about your persona or appearance?

Ditto here I’ve found that people less fortunate are allways delighted with any tip or help

Chinese social media mocks Trump on trade

You have to be joking. Is this all you've got left. Chinese social media is controlled by the CCP. For example all mention of China Railway No. 10's involvement with the building collapse in Bangkok were pretty much instantly deleted from Chinese social media and the Chinese intra-net. More pitiful with every new thread created. still I would expect no less from you BOB.

Yes, and? Would it be better if the headline was that the Chinese government is mocking Trump? OK, then;

The big mistake many seem to make is reading mainstream media and actually believing it's anything other than propaganda.

He listened to Peter Navarro too much.

Very stupid he started those tariffs all at the same time.  Also, was probably was advised every country would just lay down and agree. It will take several months to work it out, but would be surprised if China agreed to any deal.

Exactly what kindness are you referring to?  As for the VN tipping you made that up for some unknown reason

“At present there are absolutely no negotiations on the economy and trade between China and the U.S.,” said Ministry of Commerce Spokesperson He Yadong. said on Thursday. “Any claims about progress in China-U.S. economic and trade negotiations are baseless rumors without factual evidence.”

Poor guy. Wasn't he a victim of the lefts lawfare? Bet he is pretty focused these days. No wonder the forum democrats are attacking him constantly. Prepare for payback after weaponizing the judicial system and then losing an election to the guys you were banging up.😅 sweet karma

He is specifically talking about China - not tariffs for the whole world.

Nice try but no cigar.

I see the difference.

Biden slaps tariffs on China = good for Americans. No iffs, no buts.

Trump slaps tariffs on China = a tax on Americans as all tariffs imposed by the US are bad for America, and anyone arguing otherwise is an idiot in a cult.

Think I understand the forum democrats point?

That is exactly how its is.

Posts using derogatory and toxic nicknames or intentional misspelling of people’s names will be removed. If you don’t want your post to be removed, spell people’s names correctly, this applies to both sides of the political debate.

I don't think he did. I really believe they laughed at him, just not for the reason he thinks.😉

You can't be this ill-informed.

No one is saying that SELECTIVE tariffs against SOME heavily subsidized Chinese products (that gave them an unfair commercial advantage) were not necessary. This was done through numerous administrations and also in Europe and other countries. That was the correct thing to do. But blanket tariffs are not necessary and tariffs against ALL countries is just ridiculous.

it doesn't matter what tariffs trump does apply, the media will report it negatively regardless, as they did the tariffs imposed on China the first time round.

The traiff placed on other contries are being negotiated.... any one with half a brain knows how business is done... perhaps you don't know.

Now, calm down "Frank". You seem to be on the verge of posting something that crosses the line, if it hasn't done so already. And we don't want you to go on another holiday, do we "Frank", especially so soon after the previous one.

Now, to answer your little rant I would say that you mustn't compare Biden's sensible implementation of tariffs (again, with broad bi-partisan support) with either Trump 1.0 or 2.0's half-witted bull-in-a-china-shop tariff implementation. Apples and oranges, "Frank".

What holiday,  what rant? As written above Biden Tariff = good,

Anything Trump = bad.

Maybe you should explain to trump how business is done.

I don't mean not paying small companies that are working for you or paying off prostitutes but real business.

Like on the world front, people that can and will bite back.
