Accident 14-Year-Old Girl Dies After Motorbike Crash on Return from Bubble Tea Trip in Singburi

A crash occurred on the afternoon of 26 April, when a group of four 14-year-old girls, riding together on a single motorbike after buying bubble tea, crashed on a sharp bend, leaving one dead and three others injured.

 

At around 15.30, Police Lieutenant Monthian Phukhao, an investigator from In Buri Police Station, Singburi province, received a report of a motorcycle crash involving fatalities and injuries at the “Twin Bridge Curve” on the In Buri–Nong Sum Road, Moo 3, Huai Chan sub-district. Emergency responders, including doctors from In Buri Hospital and the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, were dispatched to the scene.

 

The crash site, known locally as “Twin Bridge Curve” due to an old double bridge followed by a sharp bend, showed a long scrape mark on the road surface. A blue Honda Wave motorbike, registration number from Singburi, was found overturned by the roadside. About 10 metres away lay the body of a 14-year-old girl, with severe head injuries after she struck a concrete electricity pole during the crash.

 

Three other girls, all the same age, were found injured and were immediately transported to In Buri Hospital for treatment.

 

Initial investigations revealed that the four teenagers had ridden together to buy bubble tea and were returning home when the driver lost control at the curve, causing the motorbike to hit the roadside barrier and veer off the road.

 

Police have launched an investigation and are coordinating with the families to allow the funeral rites to proceed after legal processes are completed.

not only like this with youngsters dying every week on their bikes, the highway deaths seem like cars might be involved but I believe the deaths on the highways here are 80% of the total there.  One would think that the government and citizens would wake up and fix the laws and then enforce the traffic laws too.

So another tragic accident leading to death with unlicensed and underaged driver. As sad as it is, they need to make the parents accountable. Otherwise this will never stop.

Do you honestly believe having a license and being a couple years older would have prevented this accident? I don't.

No, I don´t believe that at all. Was just stating the tragic facts once again. When watching how grown up and supposedly experience driver behave in this country, no one in their right minds could believe such thing. However, to be able to stop underaged and definitely avoidable deaths, the need for accountability and more harsh punishment is crucial.

It can be stopped through education and law enforcement. Since that is not done, one can only conclude that such deaths are acceptable to the families and communities where this is allowed.

When I reported  to the Police a 16 year old  (Thai) was Driving without a Licence, Road Tax,  compulsory Government Insurance,  No Helmet,  only to be told     "Its not important"    then this kind of thing will  never stop

Very strong evidence from every European country would confirm strong enforced motorbike licencing legislation, pushing the age and conditions for getting a licence to ride motorbikes up in a tiered fashion dramatically reduces injuries and fatalities from crashes.

I never saw so many kids on motorbikes in my country. None actually.

 

I think road deaths of children are far higher here than most countries.
