Rangsiman Rome, a prominent MP of Thailand's People's Party, has swiftly dismantled rumours regarding his wristwear.

 

Allegations surfaced on Facebook, claiming Rangsiman sported a Rolex valued at ฿500,000, but he confirmed the watch was actually a gift from his wife—a Seiko. Such claims erupted online with accusations of dishonesty towards the Orange party, sparking debate and controversy.

 

The accusations suggested that Rangsiman's financial disclosures lacked transparency, particularly concerning luxury items not declared publicly.

 

 

 

 

However, the MP quickly countered these claims, stressing the baseless nature of the accusations. He highlighted a major online outlet's failure to verify facts by reaching out to him or consulting a watch expert.

 

 

Rangsiman reiterated that his financial declarations, submitted to Thailand's National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) in March, were accurate.

 

Together with his wife, Ivana Kurniawati, they are recorded to have assets amounting to ฿13.38 million and debts totalling ฿6.6 million. Notably, Rangsiman's assets include cash savings, property in Bangkok, and digital currencies.

 

Ivana, of Indonesian origin, also shares a robust asset portfolio. Her possessions include a plethora of international currencies, a diverse jewellery collection, and profits from literary pursuits.

 

It is evident that both Rangsiman and Ivana have established a secure financial standing independent of spurious luxury accusations.

 

The rumour of Rangsiman's Rolex watch can be seen as an exaggerated tale, focused more on stirring political unrest than uncovering any genuine misconduct.

 

Ultimately, the narrative highlights the need for scrutiny in dispersing unverified claims, especially when they relate to public figures and their reputations.

Like with many rich people it's nothing to do with time but with showing off wealth.

You can't always sit in your Ferrari, Lambo etc.

Understatement is rare.

Rolex is a typical show off piece because even the pleb knows it.

In Germany it has the image of a pimp's jewellery.

Come with a Patek Philippe 10 times the price and only insiders will know about it.

 

The poor and ordinary not even have/wear a wristwatch.

For daily operations I wear an Omega Seamaster, but I have been wearing my Tudor Pelagos of late, really liking it.

 

I have a couple of G-Shocks for when I am in the field.

 

I also have several other quality watches including Rolexes. No big deal.

This gang spoke very loudly on arrival (late arrival) and one member of the gang kept asking other students who were in the midst of doing the exam things like 'are there any questions about xxx? Plus a further 12 friends were outside the exam room being very loud and causing a disturbance.

 

Because of the noise the deputy dean arrived, she ordered all concerned to leave the room and go to her office. Took forever to get the late arrival exam takers to be quiet and listen, the deputy dean then gave all four a grade - F (fail), then threw them out of her room.

It didn't work with Prayuth and it won't work with Rangsiman either, so the haters should try flogging another dead horse.

Nice choices. I prefer antique watches myself. I have about 40 pocket watches some 120++ years old. My favourites are: JW Benson who had Royal Warrants from Queen Victoria, emperors of Russia,  Japan and even the Thai king of Siam. Modern mudmaster a few seiko's including an error dial 1973 gmt and of course my longines Zulu. Nothing to do with "look at me" some people just love time pieces.  Oh and a 1962 Omega Seamaster "year I was born".

I had a Rolex, bi-metal, black-faced oyster, which I bought secondhand 30 years ago for 2,000 GBP.

 

I sold it 18 months ago for 9500 GBP. With that, I had eye surgery in Harrogate at 4500 GBP and can now see clearly.

 

I got my wife a 10-year UK visa for around 1,000 GBP. I also had the driveway at the Kalasin house redone in non-slip tiles for 1000 GBP.

 

We went on a mini trip around Isaan, Thailand. I gave Mrs 45,000 baht and some of the rest to MIL.

 

It had sat in the safe for years, and I didn't want to risk wearing or losing it in Thailand, or even the UK these days.

 

So, in my view, it was dead money.

 

I now have an Edifice watch valued at 4500 THB. It tells the time equally well, and it doesn't cost 1,000 GBP to service.

 

Money well spent in my book.

i got a smart watch that can look like patek phillipe one day and a divers watch the next...it also has earbuds inside ...It's chinese of course so the china govt know what i had for breakfast....rolex cant do that- doesnt even have an alarm ..

Ive got a Rolex Yachtmaster but its stopped going after 4 years, its seiko inside given to me as a gift.

This is exactly what I I was talking about, thais  can't keep the time, no matter how expensive watch they have around theiir wrist same whith fancy "sport cars" which they can't control (but think they can).
