One thing I noticed looking at supplements on Lazada is a huge variation in price. 

 

So I'm guessing buying a Western name brand would be safe, and the big cost difference is due to both tariffs and better quality.

 

But can Western brand supplements be "tainted"? Can they tamper with the product? Or does Lazada have safeguards in place?

Buy from Iherb, safest place to buy supplements if you do not know how to be sure about brands and quality.

I go to a lot of trade shows in Thailand and see how easy it is to buy packaging equipment that can easily knock off any pill bottle and print any label.  And press any pill in any size, shape and color.

 

Make of that what you will.  Or walk down Sukhumvit and ask yourself if all those blue pills they're selling are real.  Realistically, there's no way that Lazada can stop that kind of thing.  (Not that I trust the brick and mortar shops in the malls, either).

 

 

Buying any supplement should be done carefully. Make sure it has not only the correct active ingredients but delivers them correctly. Make sure Yr not just buying cheap xrap that sounds good and it's cheap! Yr wasting g Yr time and money.

The supplement industry is not regulated and is full of sales hype and trendy phrases.

Spend and invest a little time in getting it right.

I would never put anything in my body coming from Lazada.

I mean, the prices vary wildly from non-descript shady name brands to Western brands I recognize, which are 4 times more expensive.

The question I had is if it's a Western brand, can they seller actually sell crap and put it in a Western brand name container? 

Based on the answers I got here, it seems like this is possible.

But I find it hard to believe Western supplement companies wouldn't come down hard on Lazada with lawsuits for this type of behavior.

Or maybe there's no way to check?

Why not try ordering from a known store in Thailand with a physical location which has been open for years? Better yet, where are you located? Is there any mall nearby? I would just get the product from there because if it's genuine the price will be comparable.

Well, the price is comparable to what this goes for on iHerb.

I avoided the ones with ridiculously low prices ie with non-Western name brands. 

I've already ordered it, so I'll take a chance and use it. 

But next time, I should do a background check on the selller? I hadn't thought of that. 

 

Yeah, there is a mall near me. I guess I can go hunting for it there, but I doubt they will have the variety I'm looking for. There was a few other supplements I also wanted. I doubt I will find any physical store that has them all.

Yes I have done this often with great results, you just have to be very careful because there are a lot of vendors who will sell supplements with low potency and very small quantities at more than their worth. So you have to do your research and make sure you know what you're buying.

Friends is maybe not the right word, but members who for some reason sent a message, or challenged my quotes or patted my back is maybe more right. I havent seen a few of them online yet.

I order NMN and Resveratrol from Donotage, which is a major UK brand, so that is fine. You can tell it's a quality product when it arrives. However, I also ordered NMN from some obscure US brand and I'm almost certain it was a forgery. There is also cheap resveratrol.

 

I ordered Creatine gummies however, and they are fine I think. 

 

In short, if you get a quality brand, you'd be okay. Some obscure US brand, probably fake.

If the stores have the "LazMall" sign, you are on the safe side. For supplements, however, it's recommended to use iherb as already mentioned.

My supplements arrived.

They pulled a "switcheroo" on me. 

The brand name on the container is Xemenry. Is that Thai? Chinese?

The brand I ordered was a known Western brand.

So there is some shady stuff going on.

Never ever again will I order supplements on Lazada. iHerb it is.

This appears to be a scam.

Because the address on the back of the container says Littleton, CO

and they give a web address xemenry.com which doesn't exist.

Must be a Chinese company.

Not so sure about that. I wanted to buy some perfume that she loves, so I checked Lazmall for that brand, and see that some sellers are supplied from China. Call me a cynic but I'd be highly suspicious of a Chinese origin American perfume.

There are definitely scams going on.

 

And they appear to be coming from China. Or maybe not only China, but do be cautious of Chinese sellers.

 

Lazada even knows about this because when you return a product, they ask for the reason for the return and one of the reasons on the drop down menu is "COUNTERFEIT".

 

I learned a lot from this order! Wow. My virigin ears.

 

I guess there are millions of sellers on Lazada and there is no way for them to monitor all the sellers, apart from feedback from customers once the items have already been purchased. 

 

But why doesn't this problem exist on Amazon? Surely there must be a way for Lazada to handle this better?

Because they are involved in the scams, since they are run by the biggest scam company in the world, Aliexpress.

 

I have received counterfeit articles from Lazada umpteen times, have sent Lazada written evidence from the copyright holders, to which I had provided samples of the counterfeit articles.

They simply were not interested, and the sellers in question are still active selling the same counterfeit stuff years later.

 

Just this week I ordered 2 items from Lazada, one seller with multiple profiles. A day after the order they edited the listing with a different article (piece of crap), and messaged me they would send me this instead.

I contacted Lazada, send them screenshots from the original listing and the edited one, and they pretended not to understand what the issue was, and stopped just short of blaming me.

 

I stopped ordering from Lazada almost a year ago, because 90% of the orders would have to be rejected for one reason or another. I ordered these 2 items because they were not available on Shopee.

 

Edit to add: Both sellers had a seller rating of more than 90%, one of them was marked as flagship store.

After the issue, I went through all listings in their shop, and they had not a single article that had a registered sale. So what warrants their 90% seller rating

Just use some common sense, like any purchase.  Depending on the supplement, and your actual need for, something you should check before even taking, along with the results or tell tale signs, it actually has what it advertises.

 

3rd party testing, and sites that have tested.  I only buy Kirkland & NOW supplements, and tested and actually have what is stated on the label when produced.

 

Also, you should see a change in your body.   Example ...

... if taking a multivitamin, your urine should be a darker yellow than before

... if I don't take my multivitamin, I get a bit of brain fog, so something in it is working

... same with Vit C, and your urine will be a darker tint of yellow

... Magnesium gives me a noticeably more sound sleep, and no longer have to wake to P

 

I bought COQ10 from iHerb, as not sure how to tell if that works.  They supposedly buy direct from manufacture, and never read a negative about iHerb.

 

That's the only 4 that I take; multi, magnesium, COQ10 & Creatine.

 

There's also websites, some from the manufactures, that show what to look for in fake products; packaging & labels.   Google as always, is your friend.

I stopped Lazada for everything, never ordered supplements from them.

 

Shopee is a Singapore company, and although not perfect, much more reliable than Lazada. Considerably cheaper for almost everything as well.

Not my experience so far, as I research extensively before buying anything.  That seems to pay off.  Only had 3 negative experiences ordering online, and neither was a food or supplement item.   Only 1 that wasn't refunded, after too many emails.  

 

LAZ, Shopee, 'Banggood & AliExpress (rarely use now)', Central Online, and even 'eBay (no longer use)' have been excellent.

Because it's the original brand packaging. A fake will generally use much more generic and easy to fake packaging. 

 

The brand I refered to uses very specific packaging. and containers.

 

Also price is a good indicator. If you pay 1400 baht, that is like the real price,, and if you pay 230 or 440 baht that is too good to be true.
