So your man sharp as a tack Biden(with a history of corruption in Ukraine through family links to Burisma), who opened the chequebook with no plan to end the war, just wasting money hand over fist for years = good and a win.

Trump getting some $$ in return for the US's assistance in ending the war and delivering peace  = bad and a loss.

Think I understand.

Making up stuff about Joe Biden, as usual....

FD-1023 anyone? 🤣

Under the terms of the deal announced on Wednesday, Ukraine and the US will establish a joint Reconstruction Investment Fund.

The fund will be controlled by a company with "equal representation of three Ukrainian and three American board members," the US Treasury Department said in a statement.

The agreement covers 57 types of resources, including oil and gas.

If the US decides to buy the resources, they will be given "first choice to either acquire them or designate the purchaser of our choice," the Treasury Department said.

The new fund "will receive 50 per cent of royalties, license fees, and other similar payments from natural resource projects in Ukraine," according to the US Treasury.

Its profits will be invested exclusively in Ukraine for the first 10 years, after which profits "may be distributed between the partners," Kyiv said.

The deal is not yet ratified. Perhaps in a few months.

So does Zelensky get to keep Crimea and Donbass?

I don't think so.

Edit:  More accurately, will he be getting them back?   Because you can't "keep" something you don't have.

Good comparison. Same as the FD-1023 allegations by the GOP committee, which was ultimately found to be from a Russian agent. Comer lost all credibility, my friend! It's gone! 🤣

So a deal has been struck between the US and Ukraine, and the deal involves minerals (rare earths) and oil in the main, and poor old trump has been outplayed.

Initially trump wanted around $350 billion from Ukraine for the "support" that they had already given, but Zelensky wanted a deal which didn't involve payments of large sums, but did involve payment in kind via their vast resources of minerals; this especially after trump's disastrous tariffs on China ensured that they were going to cease rare earth exports to the US, therefore jeopardising many of the vital industries in the US.

It's highly likely that Trump's cabal of wealthy industrialists urged him to strike this deal once they knew that the Chinese were not going to supply the rare earths any more, or at least jeopardise any future arrangements they had hoped for.

So the US has opted for the very same terms which Zelensky took to the White House those few weeks ago before he was bullied by Trump and Vance, so it's a win for Zelensky and Ukraine.

Not only that, it changes the whole scenario because once the US has a vested interest in Ukraine's mineral wealth and invests money to realise it, then any attacks by Russia could be seen as an act of aggression against the US therefore moving the conflict closer to trump versus Putin, with Zelensky watching from the sidelines – – what a master stroke.

Very happy for Ukraine and its people and no matter what trump goobers may say, Zelensky has been playing chess whilst trump has been playing checkers, or even tiddlywinks!!!

A big win for Ukraine and President Zelensky!

Big win… he went from paying nothing to providing something. 😂 The previous Administration was incompetent! It’s an improvement for the American people.

What $$ do you think the US is getting from this deal? This is a deal whereby both the US and Ukraine will be involved in a Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund. There is the prospect of the US getting some kind of return eventually, but not for at least a decade (and only if the fund actually makes a profit).

As mentioned in the article below:

Quote

For the first decade of the so-called “reconstruction investment fund” for Ukraine, all profits from the country’s critical minerals, oil and gas will be reinvested there.

There will be no direct payments from the Ukrainian government to the US as part of this deal.

Quote

“The agreement includes no provisions regarding any Ukrainian debt obligations to the United States.”

I bet the Germans, British and French wish they'd get a few billion back from the many billions of taxpayer money they squandered on Ukraine for nothing.

At least Trump is making sure the US is getting some of the money back.

Another win.

As previously mentioned, this deal does not provide any absolute guarantee that the US will get any money back, and certainly not in the short term.

It's only if the fund set up by this deal is still making money after ten years, that the US has the possibility to get some money out of it. And while that's certainly possible, there is no concrete assurance there will be profits a decade from now.

Anyway, even if the US does get something back, it won't be during Trump's term in office - unless he's still in office in 2035, that is.

Gavin Mudd, the director of the Critical Minerals Intelligence Centre at the British Geological Survey, told the non-profit Science Media Center that the production of some minerals – such as titanium, lithium or graphite – could be achieved quickly, if the regions where the deposits are are secure.

I guess they’d be secure if your other hero stopped his invasion and went home.
