Catholic leaders criticize Trump for posting apparent AI photo of himself as the pope

Trump is a slug. But even for a slug this is tin eared. Weren't there at least nine or ten people around him who had the brains to warn him off against this sort of stupidity?

It’s a serious stress test. If Congress enables unchecked executive power as they now have and sycophancy drowns out dissent, democratic checks erode and the President gets to spout whatever lunacy he and his merry troupe think. National security overreach bypassing due process further tilts the balance. The American democratic system’s fate hinges on how these tensions resolve.

  • About 1.4 billions Catholics, 62 millions of which are Americans?

  • You just don't understand Trump.  He's not being serious about the Pope thing.  What he is doing is making fun of all the people who actually think otherwise .

Use what, how? No one believes that Trump actually made the meme. He is computer illiterate. He did, however, like and re-post the meme, which shows yet again what a classless act he is.

Other Trump memes also exist, such as one with him shaking hands with Hitler or dressed like Stalin. Why doesn't he just forward some of them as well, as it's all a joke? He doesn't do so, of course, because, rightly, they're offensive and he doesn't want to be seen as endorsing their message, which is what a White House forwarding does. And, again, all that is aside, as amplifying this meme only has a downside. No upside. He gains nothing from it. Instead, he alienates yet more people who probably voted or back him. It was an act of political stupidity.

I can understand Trump not wanting to broadcast memes about Stalin or Hitler.  That really could be offensive to some people, and there's no upside.

As for the Pope meme?  That's so far over the top, no one will take it seriously.  As for so-called "Catholic Leaders"?  I'm pretty sure no one takes them seriously, either.  Real Catholics understand the joke.

They could do a meme of him wrestling an alligator on a water hazard at Mar a Logo, and the MSM, Dems and lefties would be faux outraged.

Or what’s he trying to hide from view with this latest outrage? he’s up to something.

People like you are perpetually outraged.

Trump said it wasn't him making that Pope AI photo, doesn't know it's AI, nor who created or originally posted it. But Melania thought it was cute, so he reposted it.

I read it elsewhere but that wasn't in English so above link is searching for the translation... Seems same article was source for both, what I read and what is linked above.

The pope is not infallible, just an ordinary man like you and me. He does not deserve to be elevated to a place higher than anyone else including President Trump. Now President Trump who is the leader of the greatest county on God's green earth knows that his actions will generate much hatred and scorn, but he really does not care as he is above getting hurt by left wing socialists.

And the 1.4 billion (if that is an accurate figure) worship wafers so don't need to be taken too seriously.

News for you, Trump's actions is a mission of revenge, against everyone who made fun of him before, during and after his first term.

He is being very discourteous and just proving to to world what an ill-mannered uncouth vulgar President the US has these days.

Do you have any consequential examples of his "bad manners", "uncouthness" and "vulgarity" since he's been President?

The months and months of BLM arson, looting and general thuggery make Jan6 look like a class trip gone slightly awry.

Lots of interesting findings in the reports from the MCCA. Here's one found in the report you linked:
(For clarity, what's written by me is marked in blue)

"Interesting findings include: Violence was limited to only 7 percent of all protest events in the reporting period."

I mean, since you make it sound like the protests were mostly violent I think it's only fair to show you're dead wrong.

From the same report:

"In total, there were 8,700 protests that took place in most major cities between May 25th and July 31st, 2020. While the vast majority of these protests were peaceful, a large portion did include non-violent acts of civil disobedience such as the takeover of a roadway or disruption of commerce."

Another interesting thing I found in a statement from the DOJ based on the MCCA report "VIOLENT CRIME SURVEY–NATIONAL TOTALS Midyear Comparison January 1 to June 30, 2024, and 2023", so from Biden's presidency:

"“This data offers yet another indicator of a substantial reduction in violent crime in major cities across the country. In nearly 70 major cities across the country, violent crime has continued to drop during the first six months of this year compared to the same time period last year, including a 17% decrease in homicides.

This updated data comes in the wake of last year’s historic drop in homicides nationwide and one of the lowest levels of violent crime in 50 years.

So thank you for cluing me into what an astounding success the Biden administration achieved - truly amazing!

I don't know about you, but I think Jan6 would have looked completely different had they actually cracked down on the violence and looting during the BLM fooknuttery.  But they had just witnessed an entire season of rioters getting away with it, with Dem leaders actually raising bail money for them.

And they didn't realize that Jan6 was a Trump trap, orchestrated by Pelosi and company.

Yes, we all know about the violent insurrection and the traitors behind it. No need to remind us that the insurrectionists a mere five years ago tried to subvert democracy and hang the VP.

That's an act of treason that will never be forgotten - I can promise you that.
