Yes. Definitely. I was sitting at his table as he sold one to somebody who was unaware of the turnover time and was flying out the next day. I have his card but probably better if people PM me to save him trouble. He was a nice guy apart from his scam. 

I just walked past this shop and was reminded of this thread. Just in case it's of future use to Vientiane visa applicants.  Directly opposite the Hard Rock Cafe, closed Sundays.

Evisas only (no paper visa from the embassy /consulate)have just been introduced this year. Otherwise I would have gone to Savanakhet for a multi entry one which was much easier for me.

The e-visa is an electronic application. The visa is issued in paper form you can print off.

The Non Imm O ME visa is no longer available using the e-visa application system.

Yes. It is a pity about the M.E visa. It made it easy if you moved around a lot. No need to change immigration offices. Hard to have a home visit if you are not always at the same home .

The ME was perfect option for roster workers. Oil/gas and mining for one example. 

One on month off was not suitable for Non O marriage extensions due to under consideration period.

They don't send them back.  They instead give them the incorrect entry stamp (visa exempt) and then they have to go back to the airport to get it fixed.  All because they didn't hand over the visa when they arrived as the e-visa site tells them to.

No. The evisa site does not tell you to print it.  It says you 'can' print it. Unlike some  other countries it does not say it is a requirement.

Then people who don't do so and don't check their stamp assuming that the immigration just magically knows they have a visa, can enjoy the trip back to the airport to get it fixed.

Just for advice to others.... despite your experience of not requiring to show print out of eVisa to enter via land crossing for those traveling by air you must print out the visa. 

 

Airline staff need it to check against your pp and also to check if it's valid. 

On arrival at airport in Thailand immigration will also check it..

The eVisa document is a attached as a PDF to the notification email from the embassy granting the visa. That needs to be printed, not a screenshot or a printout from the website.

Not necessarily. When a friend of mine arrived at BKK with an eVisa and didn't present it, the IO asked him about it.

 

It could go both ways, and people who WANT TO "save" their eVisa and just get a visa exempt for a short visit first should keep that in mind - there's no guarantee that they will let you do that.

Folk "saving" the eVisa and entering again later to activate the eVisa.

Yes - saw a report here of Non-Imm visas being issued the next day via email.  So, he entered Laos, filed online for the eVisa, went to embassy to pay, then got it the next day (a Saturday).  An agent on-site offered him "same day" for 5K Baht.   That said, I would not count on such speedy service - but good to hear, and hope it lasts. 

Note that DTV applicants report being denied in Laos, to spite having all the requested documentation, so best to go elsewhere for that one.

Thanks.  Yes, I saw this one account from Wonkitlo - the OP for this post.  I was wondering if any other people had a victory or defeat to share.  Weighing options for a course of action.

That doesn't remove their requirement to print it and present the printout when you enter though, so there's no guarantee that another foreigner entering at another border or on another day would be just as lucky as the OP.

 

They don't. I've entered at some checkpoints where the officer doesn't see the visa and then accidentally stamps me in on visa exempt and I'd have to tell him he got it wrong and so he would correct it.

They do have them in their system, but whether or not they bother to check is another matter. When they deal with people all day that are either entering visa exempt (no visa) or people with a visa that hand it to them, they stop checking every single person in the system about having a visa or not. Especially if it's busy. That's why everyone who has a visa should print it out and hand it over with their passport. To do otherwise is just to invite mistakes.

BOTH thai consulates in Lao (Vientiane and Savannakhet) are really, REALLY fast when it comes to approving "regular Non-Imm" visas (Non-B, O, ED) 

I know of several people at BOTH consulates who applied for Non-O visa (retirement or marriage) online, took the confirmation to the consulate to pay for the visa, and got their approval emails even before they got back to their hotel from the consulate 😮

Mose people get their approvals within the next day after paying. Get the application correct, CHECK that there are no data entry errors, get the documents uploaded that they want and you'll get approved at those consulates.
 

You certainly don't need any of those touts out front offering crazy money for "same day service" 😛

Because the application asks for "proof of current location" and the embassy will expect you to upload your entry stamp from your passport that you received when you entered Laos. No entry stamp, no visa.  Plus in Laos you have to pay in person and attend an interview so they can check that you are in Laos.

I think you might be confusing this with where you can ENTER Laos with a Lao eVisa, and you would be right that you cannot enter at Tha Khek.

 

Entering Thailand (Nakhon Phanom) coming from Tha Khek with a valid Thai eVisa, on the other hand, isn't a problem.

Hi.   No I am asking about travel back into Thailand from Laos with a Thai evisa (Non O marriage).  Im teying to figure out which land crossings accwpt the evisa.  My infprmation says Nakhon Pathom does not accept evisas.  

 

Does anyone know if I can take the train from Khamavath vientiane and enter thailand using my evisa?  Thanks

you can re enter thailand from any border in laos 🙂  specially if you have a visa 

Update.  Got evisa non o marriage at vientiane.  Submitted on a friday, approved following Tuesday.  Crossed from thakek to nakhon phanom

No idea where you got that wrong information from, Thailand doesn't have any distinction between border crossings where you can or can't use an eVisa to enter. Other countries do, including Laos.

 

Good to hear that you've entered in Nakhon Phanom with your eVisa in the meantime.
