Thailands number 1 forum improves by leaps and bounds since Thaiger takeover.

AN is the leading Thai forum by miles.

It had some lean years under Dan Cheeseman but has bounced back and improved by leaps and bounds since the Thaiger took over.

I have no figures but it seems to have a lot more members now and more news and information relevant to the expat community.

What is you favorite feature since the Thaiger takeover?

One suggestion I have would be to allow native languages to be allowed on the Philippines, Indo, Singapore, Maylasia etc like we have the popular Thai Language Forum.

What I would like to know is - if and how "moderation" has changed - is it like an executive order" (ie one person can decide to block etc based on their view of a post or do at least two "moderators" have to agree

I suppose that some people would see that as an improvement.

Personally I would prefer more balance in such things.

There is more intersting conspiracy threads than ever, a fantastic improvement. Especially valid peer reviewed anti vax information with real Dr's articles from valid sources, and flat earth proofs.

It doesn’t need to be political. Anyone can’t post whatever news they want.

And I want to take this opportunity to give a shout out and a big thanks to the administration team and moderators who make this helpful forum possible.

Absolutely spot on. It seems said newspaper is the go-to source for political opinion pieces.

You didn't understand my post.

I'm talking about posts as social media "news" directly from the forum source.

Very politically, very biased, and has clearly shifted to the RIGHT.

Not subtle in the least. Very little compensating balance.

Of course members can open their own political topics but it tells you where the forum is at by what THEY post.

Got it now? Good.

You could call AN many things, but a church isn't one of the, IMHO.🙂

They'd still have to move 3 more pegs to the right to get into balance.

Edit:  Though I do concede and appreciate that they're presenting more on the right than they used to.

Nothing to crow about. The Sun outsells all the broadsheets by miles.

2005 - If you posted a Thai language question or a question related to dealing with the Labour Ministry, you would receive articulate replies.

2025 - If you posted a Thai language question or a question related to dealing with the Labour Ministry, you would receive abuse, anecdotes from Soi 6 and US culture wars.

We need private chatrooms to filter out the hoi polloi.

Its all about the audience. There is a reason that Fox News is number 1.

Thats becasue the expats were young and starry eyed, instead of bitter old men.

Interesting how perceptions do not always reflect reality, I just had a look back and there have only been 10 world news opinion pieces since the 22nd April and they are.

Telegraph
Telegraph
The Hill
Wall Street Journal
Telegraph
Daily Beast
New York Times
Wall Street Journal
Washington Post
Washington Post

There have been hundreds of other News items in world news that are not opinion pieces so you are squarely wrong.

They seem much nicer people.

We've had too many grumpy guys here, moaners and complainers, the new guys seem much more pleasant.

I reckon since they removed the confused emoji's some of the whingers and whiners have departed, they couldn't adjust, not having a confused or sad emoji to throw at you

Those reluctant grumpies who are here under sufferance and have stayed are now bombarding me with the thumbs down 😂
