Trump Plans Monday Call with Putin in Bid to End Ukraine Conflict 'Bloodbath'

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced plans to speak directly with Russian President Vladimir Putin in a renewed attempt to mediate an end to the war in Ukraine. In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated that the call would take place at 10:00 EDT (14:00 GMT) on Monday and would be followed by conversations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and several NATO leaders.

The announcement comes on the heels of unsuccessful face-to-face talks between Russian and Ukrainian officials in Istanbul last Friday—their first direct engagement in three years. While the meeting yielded a prisoner exchange agreement, it failed to make any substantial progress toward peace. Trump had offered to participate in the Istanbul negotiations if Putin also attended in person, but the Russian leader declined.

Despite the lack of breakthrough in Turkey, Trump remains confident in the power of diplomacy. “Hopefully it will be a productive day, a ceasefire will take place, and this very violent war, a war that should have never happened, will end,” he wrote. He also reiterated his belief that meaningful progress would only come through direct dialogue with Putin.

The Kremlin confirmed preparations were underway for the call. “The conversation is in the works,” Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told the Russian state-run Tass news agency. While this won’t be the first time Trump and Putin have discussed Ukraine, the former U.S. president’s renewed involvement signals his determination to insert himself as a key player in the peace process.

Moscow’s reaction to Trump’s mediation efforts has been mixed. During a separate conversation on Saturday between U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, the Kremlin expressed cautious openness to American involvement. However, a Ukrainian official disclosed that Russia had introduced “new and unacceptable demands,” including calls for Kyiv to withdraw troops from significant portions of its own territory as a condition for a ceasefire.

Despite those sticking points, the Russian delegation, led by presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky, reported satisfaction with the discussions and signaled willingness to continue diplomatic contact. “We are ready to maintain dialogue,” Medinsky said, hinting at further talks in the near future.

Meanwhile, tensions on the ground remain high. Just hours after the Istanbul summit, a Russian drone strike targeted a passenger bus in Ukraine’s Sumy region, killing nine civilians. President Zelensky condemned the attack, calling it “a deliberate killing of civilians,” and urged the international community to impose tougher sanctions on Moscow. Russian state media, however, claimed the strike had hit a “military staging area,” not a civilian target.

As the international community watches closely, all eyes are now on the proposed Trump-Putin call. While the prospects of an immediate ceasefire remain uncertain, Trump's direct engagement signals a dramatic shift in tone and approach—one that he hopes will bring an end to what he described as a “very violent war” that “should have never happened.”

Here’s what Trump posted on his ‘Truth Social’. I wonder what’s more important to him: ending the war, or resuming trade with the fascist Putin regime. Why would he specifically mention trade?

It will back to attacking and pressurising Zelensky after the call. Trump's short attention span will see him change his views after he speak to Putin. Putin always make a mockery of Trump.

Trump is an absolutely horrific negotiator, and one can see that fully on display now. When you give away the talking points of a negotiation prior to sitting down at the table you have failed. There is a 0% chance of success once you do that, and any decent negotiator knows that. The man could negotiate his way out of a paper bag to save his own life. The United States is now dependent upon this creep for to defend itself.

Prior to the election all of his supporters knew that he adored dictators and despots and he had a lack of affection for democratically elected leaders, but did anybody guess that it would be this bad, so soon?

The death and destruction is only beginning, give Trump another year or two and those who supported him will begin to understand the very nature of the man, and the staggering extent of his deception, malice, evil and corruption.

Trump is a clear and present danger to the security of both the United States and the Free World and he must be stopped. The Senators and Congress members of his own party and the Democratic party must stand up and defend freedom and rational thinking, against this insane goon.

From some of his speeches during the campaign:

I will address inflation, I will bring the price of food down, I will make America affordable again. False. He has not even made the slightest effort to address inflation.

I will solve the Ukraine crisis. I will get both parties to the table and I will get this resolved prior to my inauguration, if I am president elect it will happen quickly. False. The opposite has occurred. He is bowing down to Putin's dictates and making Zelensky into enemy number one. What a buffoon.

Nothing says fascist and dictator more than negotiating an end to the lefts escalating war with a nuclear superpower. Assuring MAD would be a more inclusive outcome, which another democrat term (with more of their escalation and no plan to end the war) would have pretty much guaranteed.

The only plan to end the war that Trump has is to throw Ukraine under the bus, give Russia everything they want and secure some billion dollar business deals with Russia in return for that. MAGA!!!!

Trump to Putin.

Lamb to the slaughter.

Trump has no idea what he's doing on this issue except for his perverted compulsion to not ever offend Putin too much.

He is so dense about this.

An average toddler these days knows that Putin neither wants a cease fire or peace.

He wants total surrender of Ukraine.

Can Trump really be that slow or is he play acting that he's incapable of learning the truth?

Not sure it matters.

Whats the chances of him saying "This war would have never started if I was president"?

  • Popular Post

Expect Putin to keep tapping him along and will just be another uneventful day of Trump's weak attempt to end the war which he promised to end ïn a day. Haven;t we had enough of Trump's self indulged fantasy that he has all the cards to end the war. The war will continue with the Russian not gaining any grounds against a well dugged in Ukrainian forces. Matter of time before Russia decapitulate economically or their forces lack the will to continue fighting.

In case this was not a rhetorical question: he already said that at least a hundred times.

This is what trump said........"I will solve the Ukraine crisis. I will get both parties to the table and I will get this resolved prior to my inauguration, if I am president elect it will happen quickly".

What a dipstick, but then again the world already knows that and also knows that he is a compulsive liar with the IQ of a pickled squid.

Putin is playing trump, but neither trump nor the MAGA goobers can see it.
