All kinds of foul play happens at airports with checked in luggage, even if it is not obvious that it was the case here. It could happen to you. 1
frank83628 Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Although length of stay wasn't given and the weight seems too high, nobody takes 40+ KGS of luggage on a 'visa run'. If the drugs were planted then grass up who you think did it because they didn't care about you, however, i would hazard a guess she knew what was going on.

edwardflory Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago The bags weighed almost as much as she (100+pounds -US weight ) weighs. No way a person could NOT feel the weight difference even with a wheeled suitcase. Several bags on a short trip, yeah right!!! Too many things do not add up especially the stated reason of only a "short trip"
jaywalker Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago OK..........British gal, worked for an airline. Who cares? What on earth is a stitch-up? I have spent the night in 45 countries. I can get by in four languages. I'm from Florida, and I'm guessing she was framed???? Help me out please, as I do not have a clue what a "Stitch-Up" is. 1

The bags are manually removed from the underground conveyer. Her contents removed, the cannibis take their place, and the bags are then sent on to be loaded onto the plane. There would of course need some baggage handlers in Colombo to also be in on this. They'd just remove her tampered incoming bags from their conveyer belt and her bags would never reappear. Pretty simple really. Just needs some coordination and pay-offs of supervisors for shift changes, and/or broken/unplugged CCTV in the conveyor area. While that's possible, if they have handlers on both ends, why wouldn't they just use their own bags instead of loading her's?
Colki Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago As stated minus the 46 kilo drug weight she would not have needed 2 suitcases. To state those who planted the drugs were meant to meet her in Sri Lanka but did not turn up does hint at knowledge of the contents.

The baggage handling area is probably the most secure part of the airport and for good reason. It's the most likely area where an explosive devise might be secreted on to an aircraft. Baggage handlers go through rigorous security checks, going into and out off the area. The baggage goes through intensive automated X-ray screening for explosives automatically and only if it gets flagged at that point does it come under more intensive scrutiny. I did read in The Guardian yesterday: 'Of the 750 smugglers arrested at airports in 2024, the NCA said that 460 had arrived from Thailand'. Obviously outbound drugs are not their main concern.

anchadian Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Thai security are doing an excellent job: Last week two young British women were arrested in Georgia and Sri Lanka for alleged attempts to smuggle cannabis after they flew there from Thailand, according to the British media. https://x.com/KhaosodEnglish/status/1925370251656798606

She first needed to learn the ins and outs of the airline industry before embarking on her new gig as an international drug smuggler.

Homburg Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago As a former Air Hostess she ought to know that excuse is never gonna fly. 1
Colki Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Wensiensheng... I agree but that is what was stated. Strange but could be possible an inside contact at airport prior to bag inspection.

black tabby12345 Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Insisting she was Set Up by someone else? Nice try, but doesn't work. Who ever believes her innocence while she was carrying over 100 pounds of narcotic in own bag. It is the kind of weight she easily notices; not a less than pound bag slipped in her suitcase. She turned out to be even dumber than previously seemed. Accept own consequences and do the time she deserves. Intentional wrongdoing, still want to dodge the punishment. Stereotype of the spoiled brat. 1

I strap my bags or use the plastic wrap machine in airports I also find her story a little out there. As to her accommodation it sounds like any SEA prison. She's going to be there a long time. Does SL have the death penalty for smuggling 1
