Imagine waking up in the middle of the night, groggy and bleary-eyed, only to find a massive python coiled up in your toilet bowl. This startling scenario became a reality for one young man in Thailand, causing shock and horror, along with many burning questions about how the sizeable snake ended up in such an unexpected spot.

On May 23, a Facebook user shared a spine-chilling video in the group Thai snakes…everything about all about Thailand snakes, describing his terrifying encounter. The footage reveals the man's mix of disbelief and fright as he recounts discovering the giant python in his bathroom. "From now on, it will be a little scary," he commented, summing up the unsettling experience.

The story didn't end there. Soon after his initial post, the man updated the group with a video showing rescue workers arriving by 4am to capture and safely remove the snake. Grateful for their help, he wrote, "I want to thank the rescue workers who came to help. If it weren’t for you guys, I really wouldn’t know what to do. If anyone encounters this, please call 199."

The incident ignited curiosity among group members, leading to a slew of questions. Many wondered how a snake of that size could enter the home, if there was nearby forest or jungle terrain, and what floor the room was on. The python’s unexpected appearance sparked lively discussions and speculation.

Helpful members chimed in with advice on preventing such startling occurrences. Popular tips included using Vicks VapoRub, Ped Pro, or toilet cleaner in the bowl to deter snakes. The acidic nature of these substances can irritate a snake's sensitive eyes, discouraging them from slithering into the plumbing.

Though alarming, this isn't the first instance of surprise snake encounters in Thailand. In February, a 3-metre-long fish-eating snake was discovered stuck in a toilet in Samut Songkhram. The dramatic rescue required firefighters to break the toilet, and the snake was later released back into the wild. The homeowner humorously considered using their house number, 11/1, as a lottery number, seeing the bizarre incident as a potential omen of luck.

Such stories remind residents of the need for vigilance in areas where wildlife can make surprise appearances. While these incidents prompt laughter and jokes in hindsight, they underscore the unpredictable coexistence between humans and nature in Thailand.

Exactly!

Glad he turned on the lights. Imagine sitting down and getting a bite in the nether region. Has happened many times before. 😣

Close the lid and then the door would be a good start.

They've been known to make their way up to the bowl through the plumbing from the septic tank.

I am surprised the bathroom looks pretty neat, clean and modern, I mean I was always thinking these types of creatures would flourish in smelly slums, with lots of rubbish, food scraps, sewers without any barriers, the same neighbourhoods where one would encounter rats for example.

This could still be the case outside this bathroom of course, but normally people who have such a bathroom are neat and clean everywhere.

" he went in to syphon-the-python" so to speak, but he met his match.

The enterprising toilet manufacturer has begun a new marketing strategy

"Constipation?… simply open the lid .."

This story has changed my life!!!!!    The greatest thing to happen to me, sorry for this man's distress.

Python is 6 letters, allowing me to play the lottery.  So I played 16, 25, 20, 8, 15, 14 if a=1 and b=2, etc...

I found tickets with 162520 and 081514 and won 10 million baht.  We are in a simulation, nothing is truly random.

When I saw this I thought it would be a report about a public mens' room encounter in Silom.

I don't know or understand much about Thai  plumbing but I thought that the pipes were no wider than 2 inches in diameter. How could this visitor make it through them even though I have  heard it does happen.MAGIC.
