I’m sure a 500 baht fee will resolve the issue of certificates, just as it does for driving licence medical certificates

You pay 500 baht for a driver's license medical certificate? The last one I did wad 100,

Yea, there are plenty of people with cannabis addiction, quite a few of them in Thailand. They are - in affect - drug addicts.

There isn't a Marijuana Anonymous Organization for nothing.

https://marijuana-anonymous.org/

It is an addictive drug that has become a problem for a great many people.

Keep going so we can all keep laughing.

Just because you think there is "zero comparison" doesn't mean there is no comparison.

1) Not everybody becomes belligerent and hostile while drunk. Some just go to sleep and become very tired and docile.

2) Not everybody becomes completely docile while high either. Some become extremely paranoid and act on the delusions.

People become addicted to THC period. It is no accident there is MA. Marijuana Anonymous and it has a global fellowship.

There are laws to prohibit people from driving under the influence of THC for good reason.

Try a few puffs with your drink of choice. You're welcome.

I don't smoke weed or cigarettes, I used to do both, I have done and occasionally do recreational drugs, and i drink alcohol when meeting friends when going out.

Not addicted to anything but I do know how things work, the comment I replied to was ridiculous.

You know, I think you are right. It was only 100, maybe 200, last time I got one.

I guess I was postulating that some kind of “fee” will mean that a medical certificate for cannabis use will be ridiculously easy to obtain

Thailand's official stance has always emphasized medical and health-related use, even during the liberalization wave. Recreational use has never been formally legalized, though it was de facto tolerated for a brief period due to legal loopholes.

100% correct

Once deregulated completely.

And then, made illegal again(use without permission subject to arrest).

Will Thai jails be full of "new offenders"?

Always was for medicinal purposes.

The problem with getting a medical certificate is your passport details are copied. Ain't no way your average tourist is going to sign up for that just to have a dabble.

Quite possibly. On the other hand, I can see these certificates being printed off and handed out by the cannabis shops themselves. Just to keep up appearances.

Who’s going to check? BIB? Maybe once in a while they will do a crackdown and some poor unfortunate will get fined. But rigorously apply a system of regulation?  Haven’t seen it happen in respect of anything else and can’t see it happening with this.

i’m agog waiting to see if it actually happens 😂

You say that it is a "fact" that pot has created less problems. Where are you getting your statistics? Show me some actual stats. Who has been measuring this "fact"

Or is this fact, actually your OPINION?

Now I am reasonable, show me some stats from an actual verified study and I'll go along with it.
