If you ever find your self needing to drive to Thep Sathit, Chaiyaphum or that way, there is a really nice alternative scenic route.

This route takes you through hills north of Khao Yai and only adds a few minutes to the usual Highway 21 route through Lop Buri, and is so much nicer. I often don't see other cars on the route, let alone any traffic (once you are off Highway 2).  Chet Sao Noi National Park is also on the route.

Google sometimes shows this as an alternative route (but not always), that's how I found it.

It's the route marked as 4 hr 20 below.

So many nice routes in that area. Been spending some time on my motorbike there.

Any you could share that are suitable for a car?

Travel that way quite often to see the in-laws and I don't mind adding 30 mins onto the journey to avoid the flat, featureless monotony of many of the Highways that way.

I did ride all season until I sold my big bikes. Rainseason is not a problem. The worst days you take a brake and dry shoes and gloves.

I have a complete rain jumpsuit.

it's no fun driving in the rain, imo removes almost all enjoyment.

We stop in heavy rain, but most rainshowers is  locally based, just a few minutes in and out and you riding in sunshine again. Very rear we bothered stopping to put raindress on, if not started out in rain.

Rain season is the most beautiful season, and much better than February, March or April. Cleaner air and more chill

Much more dangerous driving in the wet, spray from the other vehicles is a nightmare, not for me...

To each their own.

Either you are a biker, or you are not.

I hear only excuses 😁

Coming from Norway, we are used to weather, and do not sit around waiting for. Anyway, most of thise I useally hooked up with for riding where the same.

The risk is always there be it good or bad weather, and we do choose good quality rubber for wet surfaces. That's important.

I randomly went throughout the area without any other plan going from a to b, but look up some resorts and café in the area to make waypoints. If resort, you know it's doable with car.

3224 is a good start. Remember not Highways, but doable with cars

Yeah, i've been all over thailand but all during Nov - March.

I've recently sold all my bikes, been everywhere i want and a lot of these places 2 or 3 times, makes sense to cut my losses before i end up being scraped off the road.

I think it was about time. Traveling back and forth ending up servicing my bikes every time, and I also felt pretty done with riding bikes here, and as well seen enough carnage on the road. I have done alot of stupid and risky tings in my life, both work and hobbies, driving motorbike in Thailand comes high up on the list.
