On May 20th, Donald Trump announced that plans for a new space-based missile defence system called the “Golden Dome”.

Trump said during the announcement that Canada had contacted the Trump administration and indicated that the country “want to be a part of it”.

“I told Canada, which very much wants to be part of our fabulous Golden Dome System, that it will cost $61 Billion Dollars if they remain a separate, but unequal, Nation, but will cost ZERO DOLLARS if they become our cherished 51st State. They are considering the offer!”

Trump to Canada: “It will cost you $61 billion, but zero if you become 51st state”

Donald, you're such a teaser with words- separate but unequal (ouch!) ...then cherished  (aw, you sweet thing).

I expect the lumberjacks will tell him where to go.

Sounds like a great deal for Canadians. I suppose the problem is they are convinced by their msm that the guy is literally hitler. Out of all illogical nations Australia and Canada top the bill, thanks to msm misinformation.

Sounds similar to what Putin thinks about Ukraine, and what China thinks about several of its bordering neighbors? Hmmm can you connect the dots.........?

You can connect whatever dots you like. It would be in north Americas best interest for long term survival.

Wonder how much rent the Canadians are going to charge for the land needed to get those sights closer to the enemy ( trumps best pal putin) or perhaps they will say naa blow them up over your own country ehh elbows up tell trump to stick it!

Its not russia you need to worry about. Most of the new consumers coming online in the next decade are from Asia. The new world power will be in Asia. Uniting USA and Canada is really the only option.

Just think Tug we will be brothers at that point.

And the rockets red glare....the bombs burst in the air.

are you canadian? why do you care?

Being myself a canadian I totally agree that we need to pay our share and personally I am not offended by trump teasing us. Our nation has been too soft for too long... time for us to wake up. Our army is a joke and our population is now immigrant based with fewer and fewer multi generation Canucks. We needed a wake up call

That's true for every country in The alliance, so thanks to Trump, we waiting money on speed to show we do something in panick.

I hope to get completely off the hook from Usa.

Buy chineese jets if we have to (joke, sarcasm)

Europeans afraid Trump will turn off our jets now, if we do not follow his orders.

With heightened tensions between Europe and the United States over NATO and Ukraine, the myth of an F-35 “kill switch”, which would supposedly allow the Pentagon to disable foreign-operated F-35s, is fueling speculation and debate

There is a difference between military invasion and negotiating.

Why?

Two different cultures

Usa homicide stats

Imprisoned stats

Mental health stats

Average health stats

Homeless stats

Cost of education

Health care

Political views

Extremists

Hate each other, why would Americans embrace Canada as equal partners?

what benefits for Canadians?

It is ignorant to believe it is possible to melt Canada in to USA, when USA igot cancer for the moment

Are you american or Canadian by chance ?

Canadians don't own guns, unless criminals

If memory serves me right per capita Canadians own more guns than Americans.

Then you have all the guns never declared in Canada. Huge numbers there of guns being passed down through generations.

I seriously doubt it ... the right to bear arms is heavily ingrained in the US, but not canada.

Thanks to Jacinda Hardon, New Zealand is probably at least as dystopic as Canada and Australia.

Long live the Commonwealth. :coffee1:

Does Canada prefer to cozy up to the EU?

https://www.euronews.com/my-europe/2025/05/05/meet-the-mep-who-wants-to-bring-canada-into-the-european-union

Almost half of Canadians want to join the European Union and one German MEP is doing his best to make it possible.

Canada’s new prime minister Mark Carney broke with tradition by visiting Europe rather than Washington for his first foreign trip as his country’s leader, Carney told his hosts in Paris that Canada is “the most European of non-European countries”, alluding to his country’s French and British roots.

If Canada joining Eu, is that a good reason for Usa to invade?

Asking for a friend!

I know many Americans think Putin had right to clean up his backyards, including Trump and Hegseth

You would be shocked at the number of guns Canadians have that the government doesn't know about.

Different gun mentality completely

In 2022, the U.S. had a much higher gun homicide rate than Canada, with 6.3 per 100,000 residents compared to 2.27 in Canada. Statista's data indicates a significant difference, with the U.S. rate being more than twice as high. This disparity is consistent with findings across various studies, including the Connecticut General Assembly's report that found a higher average murder rate in the U.S. for all methods of killing, including those involving handguns.

What does homicide have to do with it ?

And they are a hunting generation where guns are heritage to next for generations, same in Norway.

How I'd the gun rate in Alaska  compared to Usa in general?
