A shocking attack took place in Narathiwat's Tak Bai district, Thailand, as unidentified gunmen targeted an anti-drug sports event, injuring four people. The incident marred an initiative designed to promote healthy living and combat drug misuse within the community, taking place at the Kohsathon subdistrict headquarters.

The peaceful gathering turned tragic at around 2.20pm yesterday. Defence volunteers Mussalim Dosa and Hamdanuddeen Salae were among the injured, with Dosa sustaining an arm injury and Salae a wound to the ear. Teachers Sainuddin Jehbueraheng from Furqan School and Muhammad Sukreeha from Ban Kohsathon School also suffered gunshot wounds. Jehbueraheng's hand was injured, while Sukreeha faced a serious chest injury, necessitating urgent care at Tak Bai Hospital.

Witnesses reported a group of at least six assailants, each masked under a cap, arriving at the scene on three motorcycles. Armed and seemingly well-coordinated, they opened fire indiscriminately at the assembled crowd, causing panic and chaos. Following the attack, they fled swiftly, leaving authorities scrambling to piece together clues and maintain public safety.

This shocking event has struck a chord with communities that have been striving to fight drug use with positive, community-building activities. The sports event, like many others in the area, was meant to serve as a beacon of hope and encouragement towards a healthier, drug-free lifestyle.

Local authorities are intensifying their efforts to hunt down the perpetrators. Security measures are being revised, and checkpoints have been established in hopes of swiftly bringing those responsible to justice. Officials stress the significance of maintaining such community activities despite threats, as they are vital in the ongoing battle against drug misuse.

This incident serves as a grim reminder of the challenges faced by communities in southern Thailand and underscores the need for continued resilience and community solidarity in their fight against drugs and violence.

Drugs... scourge of the world

Legalise, regulate, control, and tax. Wars on drugs have achieved nothing other than wasting time, money, and lives.

Well done that man! Anti drugs my

@£se. These events are just propaganda; they are the scourge of freedom loving people and usually just designed to promote politicians and cops and to distract the people from the REAL @o%le%£

Portugal seems to have found a workable program. It's hard to tell, because the American media never cover it.
