In an ideal world all workers would be paid a living wage by employers. tipping would be illegal and seen as an insult if you even tried, and Jew haters wouldn't be trolling internet forums to spread their disease at every opportunity.

But alas.

Here we are.

The comment which  called anti semitic  met the definition. It was intended to offend and to perpetuate a negative stereotype. I was raised to speak out when I saw such hateful  activity.

Unlikeable? My not accepting an immature and spiteful comment intended to wind people up has nothing to do with likeability.

Your attempts to get attention are tedious and an insult to the intelligence of others. We all know your act is contrived, and it wore out its entertainment factor a long time ago. Good for you and your transgender campaign. I do hope that you can  visit   Gaza or  the arab palestinian territories one day so that  you can discuss your transgender beliefs with them. I am sure that they will share their hospitality with you as they have a special welcome for LGBQTs.

You are not fooling anyone. You don't like juden. We all get it. You are just too much of a coward to come out and say it  explicitly . Instead, you will find a way to justify your promotion of hateful comment.

Your word's certainly make it clear that you do. The war in gaza,  gave cover for people like you to come out from your hiding places and  spew your hate. No doubt you dislike some other groups too.  Stop blaming others for your circumstances. You  have not done well in life because of you and your own poor choices and limitations.

Dude, there's something seriously wrong with you, please seek professional help. You say that I'm "spewing hate". How do you turn "dislike" which is a fairly mild emotion into "hate"?

As for the other stuff about doing well in life, well that's just ridiculous. Talk about "spewing hate" 🤣

If I do "hate" any particular group of people or an ideology it sure as shît aint the tiny hats. Their enemy is my enemy and I'm cheering them on. I just wish they'd hurry up and get the job done and move on to Iran.

So I regard a tip as an investment in future service.

Really? You do know what TIPS stands for? To Insure Prompt Service.

The origins of TIP being to 'To Insure Promptness' is a social myth / folk etymology - its a retrofitted explanation that sounds neat but doesn't hold up historically.

In reality, the word tip was been used in the 18th century to mean giving a small amount of money.
It comes from thieves and beggars jargon where TIP meant "to give" or "to hand over" - as in "tip me a coin"... and over time, the usage evolved into the modern noun for a gratuity.

Every Friday night I walk into the Moat House rooftop bar with my pal, we sit at our normal table overlooking the moat, start listening to the live music, watch the moat/traffic/passers by, and they bring over our drinks. No need to speak to anyone, they know what we want.

When we leave I hand them 100bht for my 85bht Leo, I've enjoyed the music and the service, so why not.

Last of the big spenders!

You sit and have one beer, chat with your mate, and listen to live music in a preferred seat overlooking the moat.

No food and one beer, Wow.

10 baht ..omg...now I heard it all

You are so unbelievably irritating.

B10 is more than ten percent tip in a country with no tipping culture.

If I had three that would be b30. If the girls were especially pleasant or gave me a massage I might give them another 20.

I owe you absolutely no explanation of how I live.

The wenches bring my beer from the bar to me 3m away.

I'm absolutely certain you live under a bridge and once every two years spend ten days in boys town where you shower the twinks with b20 notes - big spender you.

You're a silly fool who with no money and nothing to do .. wastes his life away on the internet posting juvenile ramblings.

You're not interesting, funny or clever.

An absolute classic shi+poster

You think you are some arbitrar of Thailand, Thai culture and custom. Such an absolute laff.

When I want to give the poor sod delivery driver more than b10-15 on a b200 order my wife has a fit.

You are truly a know nothing.

From my days working in the hospitality industry in Europe, I recall the standard among clients/customers was:

Above-standard service: tip

Normal service: no tip

Below-standard service: complaint

The systematic tip thing is an American specificity, as far as I know. The average Thai, when receiving a delivery costing 54 baht, will give 60 baht and wait to receive their 6 baht change, and nobody expects it to be any different. I don't think it should be an automatic thing to do, and doing it probably contributes to the cliché that farangs have money to waste.

What about people that don't work in a perfect world?

And what about maga haters trolling internet forums to spread their disease at every opportunity, are they allowed in your perfect world, or do you exterminate them?

The traitors you mean?

In a perfect world, there would be no Magas hoting lefties and no Lefties hating Magas, and no Middle part hating lunatics to the left and right

So is tipping to show appreciation for above-standard service or to support non-livable wages of poorly paid staff?

Not sure about Thailand. But back home, if the main purpose was intended to reward above-average service, then it has become a joke because it's practically mandatory so we are tipping even when service is bad.

If you want to see a  genocide, spend some time looking at the   Darfur. The dead are estimated to be in excess of 100,000. There is an actual starvation crisis in Darfur. And yet not a word from people like you. Why is that? Is it because their is a bais against black africans, or is it that the mass murders carried out by Islamic  militias are acceptable?

Although your previous paragraphs are baloney,

for sure the Darfur thing is despicable.

However, to my knowledge, it is not funded by USA,

as is the Palestinian genocide.

I love black people.

Black women are the best lovers I have encountered.

As far as I am concerned, the former. That's what service and relational jobs are all about, if one isn't a "people person", IMO they should change jobs (as I did).

So you're American? This certainly isn't the case in Europe.

I much prefer to give a small tip in Thailand to a waitress where I nearly always get a thank you wai then to have someone shove a tablet in my face in America asking if I want to tip 20 25 or 35% on an overpriced drink or meal with rarely so much as a nod of thanks.  It is totally out of control in America and seems to get worse every year.

I have always been a decent tipper.

But here, seems more recently they don't say thanks. So, I have cut way back or leave less.  For great service here I will leave around 10%.

So you decide whether to tip based on if they pretend to treat you like a special snowflake?  Here I thought I should be tipping for good service instead.  Not caring about that stuff and finding it kind of cringey when try suck up to me like that.  I guess I had it all wrong.

The only thing that goes over anybody´s head, is that you have a problem with different definitions. Required and not do, is not same. A kindergarten student knows that.

In States it's just ghastly. It had become ridiculous open way for service industries to offload labor costs. Now, it's just become an absolute grift.

I was back in California we went to a pizza place to pick up an order. The guy at the counter spun the register around and ask us to put in a tip. FOR A TO GO ORDER.

Back to Thailand... Being a big tipper may or may not even be remembered. You will not be remembered tipping big almost anywhere on Sukumvhit.

The pay is shi+. That's not my problem. When I didn't like my job or pay I got another one. It's not that easy here but still must be done. If you want to serve food beverage here...that's not gonna pay well.

When someone gives you free money hard earned a modicum of gratitude is in order. Thais don't really tip and from my weekly foray to Sukhumvit many skint farang gleeful not to tip.

Another thing not touched upon ...many tips here and US ... No idea UK and EU are pooled.

In one pub I go to you must hand the woman the tip and not leave it on the tray or it goes to pooled tips.
