Authorities in Sattahip district have set up traffic checkpoints to curb a large gathering of motorcyclists known locally as the “Trip Hia” group, which saw between 900 and 1,000 bikes riding through the area, sparking complaints from residents about noise and safety concerns.

The motorcyclists were reported to be riding with loud exhausts, modified vehicles, lacking proper registration and many riders not wearing helmets, causing significant disruption along Road 3126 near Nang Ram Beach in Saem Sa Subdistrict.

Pol. Col. Khomsan Kamtunkaew, Chief of Sattahip Police Station, ordered traffic officers led by Pol. Lt. Col. Patnanan Somnuan and other units including special operations, motorcycle patrols and highway police to conduct thorough checks under the Traffic Act.

The police have also been in contact with key members of the motorbike group to remind them that while tourists and visitors are warmly welcomed in Sattahip, they must observe traffic laws and maintain public order.

“Those who fail to comply with the law will face strict enforcement measures to ensure the safety of both the public and riders themselves,” Pol. Col. Khomsan said. The operation has resulted in numerous arrests for violations such as loud mufflers, vehicle modifications, lack of driver’s licences, missing registration plates and failure to wear helmets.

In addition, police plan to coordinate with the Royal Thai Navy to prohibit these motorbike gatherings from using naval-controlled beach areas for events, following complaints from local residents adversely affected by the noise and disturbances.

This crackdown underscores local authorities’ commitment to balancing tourism promotion with community safety and order.

555 vehicle noise enforcement has to be one of the biggest jokes ever.

Any bike with an aftermarket/loud exhaust should be crushed - and I mean the whole bike

Sigh.  If only Pattaya had police like Sattahip.

Young Thai dopes deliberately puncture their exhaust pipes so as to ride Look-at-me bikes.  They do not care about increased fuel consumption and pollution so long as they think they are receiving admiring glances.

It's a different sound and also the tone is less grating.  They aren't really an equivalent.

It is not less grating to me, and usually far louder. I was sat in immigration and this prick was sat on his with his engine running near the entrance (giving it a regular engine tickle), pure selfishness and more childish than any Thai 16 year old!

I don't think so, if they're running without silencers outside your house
