Driving home last night and suddenly bang. The road is in bad condition lot of holes and bumps. Thought might have hit a brick or big hole, looking at the dash cam footage cannot see anything. Not far so managed to get home. From the pic does it look like a blowout from a tire that's worn, or does it look like it hit something, it was a real bang.

Not from normal wear. You likely hit the corner of a sharp parking block to cut it, and it did not blow out right away.

Where and when did you buy it?

Tires in the Thai climate are subject to tread cracking.

Looks like the OP hit something.

I always put Michelins on my vehicles, touch wood I have never had a blowout here.

I somehow doubt Thais are trained in how to react when they do have a blowout.

How many km?

Do you have a good spare and is it the same as the others?

probably 12k got a spare but it's 12 years old, have to put that on and take it to cockpit. Been putting off getting new ones do to the never ending road and drain work, got three punctures from metal and screws one week.

Not sure about Cockpit, but I know if you buy the tires at B-Quik they'll come out and change it for you.

Is the spare the same brand/size as the blowout?

Same with my Maxxiss, made in Thailand. Got over 80ooo km on my Vigo from the last set.

Many spare wheels these days are not the same size as the other 4, usually on a narrower rim to save space in the boot.......oops sorry, trunk for you Yanks. As long as you do not speed or keep it on too long, no problems.

Looks like a tire impact  damage. Lucky ,you didn't lose control.

Get rid of the spare tire. At 12 years of age, the rubber is degraded. Sitting in a hot trunk doesn't keep the rubber pristine.

If your vehicle uses full size spares, you can probably get by using one of the existing 3 year old tires. At 3 years of age, you will need to replace at least 2 of the tires.

Yeah, that's been the case for the last 50-60 years, that's why I was asking if the spare the same brand/size as the blowout.

I know my spare is the same size, and is rotated in every 10k km.

My spare is also same size, but on a steel rim, not nice mag one. But don't want to change it when Maxxiss rotate for me. So I just do the four, but get them to check the spaer's pressure, and to get it off the bottom of the Vigo easily, as it can get gunged up.

So, the tires are 12.5 years old and have 78K km?

That's dangerous tyres at that age. Toyota will not rotate mine if over three years old.

My wheel is the same as well, and they always scrub it up with the free rotation-balance service that came with the tires.

Toyota is in the business of selling tires, and not in the business of rotating tires free.

Contrary to what has become popular belief, tires generally wear out, they don't age out.

No the car is 12.5 years old and has done 78k, the tires have done about 12k in three years

that tire has done a lot more than 12k.

I think I would know if it had, 15k at most, firestone. Roads here are terrible, continually patched up, lumps and holes, always crap on the roads. Not even left out in the sun. Probably get something other than Firestone

Where do you live that there are roads like that? I have had two flats in the 25 years I've been here.

How much tread is left?

Be very clear to Cockpit, insist on speaking to the manager / supervisor.

Why? Some shops like this deliberately don't listen. You tell them replace 1 specific tyre then when you go back they have replaced all 5 tyres, 4 on the car plus the spare.

Shop did this to my Thai son. He objected and insisted on speaking to the manager. 'Manager not available this week'. Son called the police. Police officer told my son 'these shops do this all the time. Shop person suddenly discovered that the manager was available.

Police told the manager, we will call your customer in 1 hr and check that the original tyres are back on the car and just the damaged tyre has been replaced.

Policeman also asked the shop staff to give him a cost and the cost must not includeg taking the new tyres off or returning the old tyres  to the car. Shop tried to insist on giving a verbal cost, cop said no;  write it on a document with your shop logo.

An hour later son called the cop to verify all done and that he had paid the quoted price, and shared that he had insisted the shop write on the receipt 'paid in full' (in Thai).
