On 5th June, Chonburi Immigration Police, led by Police Colonel Napaspong KositSuriyamani, coordinated with the Russian embassy to capture a 33-year-old Russian national, Mr ARTEM, who was subject to an Interpol warrant related to drug offences.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Thong Kotanun, along with an investigation team, was tasked with locating and apprehending the suspect.

Investigations revealed that Mr ARTEM was residing in the Pong area and frequently visited a local sports club in Bang Lamung District, Chonburi. Officers set up surveillance and eventually spotted him outside the club, where he was apprehended and taken for questioning.

During interrogation, Mr ARTEM admitted to being the individual wanted by Interpol. A check of his passport revealed it had expired 352 days prior. Consequently, he was handed over to Nong Prue Police Station to face charges of overstaying his visa.

Arrangements will be made with the Russian embassy for his extradition to Russia to face further legal proceedings.

You mean he's not been doing his 90 day reports?

I wouldn't want Mr. Artem's future.  Possibly Thailand beach to Ukrainian trench.

Interesting that Immigration's vaunted biometric system didn't flag this guys over 300 day expired passport beforehand.

OMG, those criminal Russians have found a safe heaven in Thailand! Enough is enough! Stricter visa policy is required.

Nah, he will "volunteer" to fight Ukraine for Mother Russia.

Why are there so many Russians on 'holidays' in Thailand ?

While their country is at war.

Do they have friends in high places facilitating their avoidance of conscription.

I just don't understand how men of fighting age are allowed to exit their country when they are required to fall in.

Vladi:

There is no general mobilization and never been.

Russian men never been stopped to leave the country.

There is no war just a special military action.

If you call it a war in Russia you will be prosecuted.

Where did you get the information about 'required to fall in'? Only those who voluntarily sign a contract (and get paid for it) are going to fight in the Ukrainian war. As it's a matter of personal free will, there is no need to close the border.
