I observed an interesting phenomenon when I worked in Port Hedland many years ago. After a year or so in the local school, white parents who could afford it would send their kids to boarding schools in Perth. The reason given was the kids were being dragged down in language skills by the Aboriginal kids, who mostly communicated in pidgin.
