The locals are fed up with the annoying tourists.

Featured Replies

I do feel very welcome here and I very rarely ever feel anything north of indifference, which is something I can easily handle.

I happened to countries where I have felt hostility such as in France and in Vietnam, but I find the Thai people to be quite warm and very gracious.

I don't know if the Thai cities are overrun to the extent that some of the European cities are, I've been to Florence in May and it was fairly out of control. I've never seen concentrations of foreign crowds like that in Bangkok. Certainly in a couple of sections of Pattaya, Samui and Phuket you do have big concentrations of foreign crowds, and subsequently jaded locals who oftentimes appear to be quite fed up. But, who can blame them?

Nothing to do with those nationalities, its  about the houses in the area all beoing bought up by foreigners and turned into airbnb and holiday homes and nothing left for locals.

  • Where are the tourists from?

They will be in a worse position than Greece was around 17 years previously and to this day, still are. The Greeks weren't moaning about the tourist's either and it still went pear shaped.

I do recall Greece having a ridiculously low retirement age once upon a time? I think you were entitled to it only a couple of years after quitting your morning newspaper round.

The Greeks were complaining about work and paying taxes.

Never been to a lazier country.

You can’t blame the Vietnamese for not liking you guys after all that raping and Agent Orange you dumped on them.

The French probably thought you wear one of us Brits, don’t let it get you down, we don’t care either.

Comparing yourself to Mike Tyson is funny on many levels.

He was good in his early days but seeing him fight that YouTuber a couple of months back brought him back down to reality.

Which would be the same as if you met me. Prancing around the gym in lycra posing in front of the mirror all day doesn’t mean you can fight.

You couldn’t fight your way out of a wet paper bag.

I'm comparing you to Pee Wee Herman against my Mike Tyson. Understand? The more you speak, the more you show just how ignorant you are. You can hardly make a reply without assuming about others. You're a prejudiced, drunk weasel that  has no street sense whatsoever.

I don't care what you think you know but again, you've never met anyone like me because you wouldn't continue to talk like a clueless teenager. I don't prance around gyms. I'm not like I was before, as no one stays the same as their prime, but I still went to those gyms to train, heavy, for 50 years. You have absolutely no idea what that encompasses because most people that go to gyms don't make any progress.

I don't know you, but I've known your kind all my life. Talkers who have never had an adult confrontation in their lives but think they can defend themselves against people who have trained for decades.  I do know what I've seen for those 50 years, and I would bet you were never in the less than 1% of strength athletes of the world like I was.  Those that are trainers do, and no matter how old you are, you maintain things most people can only imagine. And like Mike Tyson, you get hit by someone that trains heavy all those years, even if they're old, you're going down for a long time. Talk is cheap. Put up or shut up.

Says the guy that can’t even read street signs.
Or what anyone is saying in the street he lives in.

And no road sense either with all these accidents.

Sounds to me like your testosterone levels might be down and it is making you grumpy. There are tests you can do and drugs you can take to manage it.

Who needs to read Thai street signs if you, again for the third time, know how to drive safely and understands the basic international signs that have been here for decades?

There's only one person living on my street and he's a relative and we communicate well enough.

All these "two" accidents, where they were other's fault? Do you not understand much of what others say or just rearrange it to meet your lack of communication skills? Again, with every reply comes at least one new assumption.

Everyone's testosterone goes down every year after 35, and seeing you're not a gym person who exercises and eats healthy all their lives, and stays away from getting drunk all the time, your testosterone has been going down daily, which means even those bar girls you buy won't like it unless you buy the blue pills.

Totally agree. They made the Spanish siesta look like a quick nap. It was always a chore for them to pour you an Ouzo and knock up a quick Souvlaki.

You really are far behind. Living a sheltered life does that, as does having over protective parents who didn't teach life skills.

Not like us hard working Brits eh Keeps.

i was in a bar in Greece a few years back and a gay guy was a bit drunk. He went up to this Greek guy and asked him if he wanted a b- job.

The Greek guy lost it, grabbed the gay guy by the head and started smashing it into the bar and then kicked in to him while he was on the ground.

I was surprised by the veracity of the attack and thought I might have missed something, so I asked the Greek what did the gay guy say?

The Greek replied that he doesn’t speak English well but thought the gay guy had offered some sort of job.

Your post says everything about you, and nothing about Thais or tourists

Just now, MalcolmB said:

What you don't realize is that you don't know anything about me besides what I've said here. Assuming like you do shows just how little you do know, as no one with any experience on the streets under estimates anyone, knowing they also don't know anything about them.

With every word you speak, you show someone that has been restrained in life, angry because he's likely been picked on by others, kept at home and taught very little about the real world and how it is, and has to make idle threats against people who could likely knock him out with one punch, just to feed that low self esteem.

This is an online forum, and for your benefit I will tell you to be more restrained in what you say, because if you do this in public, it could be the end of you. This is something you should have learned with all your forgotten life skills.

You're right, I don't like the Liverpool team so I deserve to have a Thai curse at me. Wonder who taught them to speak like that, certainly wasn't a Yank.

The question you should be asking is why they tell YOU to *ck off, and not others

Hence my original comment.
now bye bye little boy, go and practice your scowls for when you walk down the street

You start a topic about an incident based in Europe and then make it about a girl that was in another topic here. Why?

Once again... the provocation couldn’t be more blatant if he lit it on fire and waved it in our faces.

Yet another feeble routine to stir the pot, thinly disguised as ‘informative posts’. It’s laughable, really, if there weren't so many others who can't see through this facade.

Whether it’s an anti-Farang jab, a snide swipe at the Brits, or a deliberately needling remark about Israelis, it’s never about genuine discussion. It’s calculated. It’s transparent. And it’s tedious.

Nothing he posts comes from a place of real concern or interest - just the same old weaselly tactics, engineered to spark outrage among anyone gullible enough to take the bait.

This is another thread that is only about provocation, against the Brits... he didn't get an early enough bit so he 'threw' Israeli's out there too....    I'm surprised he gets away with it.

https://www.reuters.com/world/protesters-against-overtourism-take-streets-southern-europe-2025-06-15/

Authorities in the north eastern Spanish city said around 600 people joined the demonstration there, some firing water pistols or setting off coloured smoke and putting stickers saying 'Neighbourhood self-defence, tourist go home' on shop windows and hotels.

There were similar demonstrations in other parts of Spain including Ibiza, Malaga, Palma de Mallorca, San Sebastian and Granada. Protests in Italy took place in cities including Genoa, Naples, Palermo, Milan and Venice.

Stories like this make me love the tolerant Thais even more. Is there any other country in the world that does tourism better than the Land Of Smiles?

No

They would be bummed after all the tourists stop coming to their City.

Wrong, Aussies go to Bali, try the UK.

True, for many decades BALI has been the main country Australian visit for holidays.

Why?

- Not so far, flying from Sydney 6hrs 30 min to Bali, from Perth to Bali 3 hr 45 min.

- Quite a lot of English spoken by locals.

- Good clean food and not expensive.

- Good 3 star hotels quite cheap (big range of costs but cheap for Australians). And up to 6 star hotels if you want. Vegemite usually out on the breakfast buffet.

- Safe, very little violence.

- Great beaches.

- Good safe local transport, use Blue Bird taxi if possible, no cheating. Some other taxis do sometimes try to charge more.

- Plenty of shopping - good quality to poor quality fabrics, very reasonable prices.

- Airport arrival easy.

Brits and Germans mostly, unless things have changed in recent years.

The Vietnamese don't like Americans but tolerate them because they make up a large portion on non-Chinese/Korean visitors. The French don't like any foreigner. Too bad they're stuck with such a large (and growing) French Muslim population that doesn't like them either... I do like France though, must admit.

Like I said, you have no idea. It's best not to assume you have to "mansplain" to someone you've never met. It  shows that you've never had a confrontation with anyone outside of high school, as no one that talks like you do has ever come up against anyone like me. If you did you would have learned not to again.

You made me laugh out loud.

If it did come to that there would only be three hits in it Fred.

Me hitting you, you hitting the ground and the ambulance hitting 120.

Awwww....    Malcy...  its so hilarious seeing such a pathetic cockroach think he's such a hard-man...

It’s not a legitimate street sign - it’s a poster slapped up by some half-witted local official, saying “drunk drivers slow” as if it’s a kindly reminder for drunk drivers to ease off the accelerator....

It was probably thrown up after a drunk driver killed someone in that area - and, true to form, some dimwit official with the intellect of either you or a particularly slow 5-year-old decided a cutesy sign reminding drunk drivers to be careful was a solid solution. Not tackling the actual problem of drunk driving, mind you – just a rather idiotic poster and a prayer ignoring the true issue.

The sheer stupidity of that sign is only rivalled by your willingness to treat it as some kind of official safety notice.

It perfectly mirrors your own brain-dead logic and your desperate attempts to justify your reckless drink driving - all while provoking anyone who dares point out how vile your behaviour is.

And now, you’ve crossed into thinly-veiled threats against other posters - a move so low, it reeks of cockroach-level degeneracy. All in your pathetic crusade to normalise your bigoted trolling and wind up anyone within reach. You’re not edgy. You’re just despicable – a festering little specimen of human nature that’s consistently shown not a shred of anything redeemable. The only faint silver lining is that most of us can see right through you – for the pathetic, attention-starved, morally bankrupt creature you truly are.
