Officers found the man appearing highly intoxicated, speaking incoherently and engaging in bizarre behaviour, including rain drinking water from a roadside drain and splashing it onto his face and body.

I have to watch day 5 of the first test match against India, that may have something to do with his behaviour, seen that before.

Authorities say they are working with the British Embassy and relevant agencies to provide appropriate care and support for the individual

And a plane journey home.

a British man, who was not named by authorities, reportedly attempted to end his life by running barefoot into moving traffic.

I do have empathy for this guy.  Feel bad for him.  I can see this scenario.   Hurt, can't work, money runs out, no support group, drinking, frustration, anxiety, depression.    I don't have a support group, and anxiety has ramped up at times, but I'm OK with the rest.  I still would talk to my Embassy, go back home, try to work, and keep giving it a go until I just knew it was hopeless.  Then I think I would try to live on a trail in the wilderness.  That would work for like a few days.  lol.  Miserable, for sure.   Maybe try being a monk.  Yes, lots of options before the final plunge.  The problem with running in traffic is you are affecting others.  What if a family of nine hits and kills you.  Now these kids have to deal with that mentally.  That's terrible.  Don't do that.  Let's hope this guy is just crying out for help and gets the help he needs.

That, he most certainly won't get from a UK embassy...

Sounds like Crystal meth+alcohol+depression. His behaviour suggests that he should not be travelling, and should be under care/supervision in his home country.

This thread made me think of an old 1980s  arcade game.

Frogger, anyone remember it.

No respect for tradition.

The traditional method for ending it all in Pattaya is a rapid descent to earth initiated from an upper floor balcony.

But seriously, sympathy for the guy what ever his story.

This was a popular method for many years.

Mike shopping mall had a roof top swimming pool, it was closed because of what you described.
