If some are leaving the UK in favor of the USA, that means the UK really, really sucks.

No, the Labour Party really sucks, they told lies like Trump did, to get control.........:coffee1:

I'm sure taxes are a factor, but I also think it's just the low quality of life that is driving people out. More than likely the same applies to America which has been declining for a very, very long time.

Yeah, I got out last year.

I find the people much nicer in Thailand if you have money. There is a lot of jealousy in the UK. It is quite nasty.

Here it seems to get me a lot of respect.
Definitely a big difference in mentality.

A lot of people act nice if they think they are getting something from someone, which is a huge reason you see locals smiling at foreigners.

But people are still moving to the US every day, as many things aren't declining and the US has everything any other country has with more freedom.

Please discuss the topic which is about the UK, not Phuket or the US:

Don't say they weren't warned! The whole of continental Europe is only one hour away. Why the f£ck would anyone stay in the grim, overpriced, overpopulated with Muslims, and bullying police. I ain't a millionaire but I got out. The loss of the millionaires is an incredible loss of income for our nation.  LABOUR JUST DID IT FOR SPITE NOT UNDERSTANDING THE ECONOMIC CONSEQUENCES.

Sorry, this is wildly misreported nonsense. There has actually been research in to how often "millions fleeing the UK" or similar articles have been published in certain press vs how many millionaires have actually left.

Here's a clue: the answer to the first part is 10,900 news items in 2024 alone. The answer to the second part is hardly any. There is no exodus. There will be no exodus.

Read an impartial report - with evidence in it - and come back to me. Here's one to get you going:

True dat.! In the UK people don't even bother pretending. The fabric of society is renting asunder.

New York will be next--- so easy to say to get elected..."Oh yes , we will just take off the rich"

I liked DeSantis remark when he heard that Zohran Mamdani may be the next NY  mayor.

It ain't necessarily so. They smile at each not just 'foreigners'. If you go very far north east the Thais smile at each other. The premise you suggest is wrong and feels like it founded in bitterness & disappointment.  Perhaps YOU WERE EXPECTING something & when you didn't get it you projected your disappointment on to the Thais with a snide comment.

I didn't say all. I see smiles all the time, especially from locals that know me in my village. Some are genuinely curious or nice people, who smile because of their attitude towards others. I never make any snide comments towards locals, as I'm not prejudiced in any way and am okay with all peoples.  The only one I've ever had trouble with is my ex. The thing is ,you never know what's behind anyone's smile if you don't know them. That isn't limited to here.

UK= high prices

         high taxes

         low wages

         poor weather

a health system near collapse

allowing thousands of losers to arrive illegally by boat and giving them all benefits to the detriment of the locals

the scum arriving hate the locals but getting everything for free is too good to miss

Need I go on?

There's a lot of great places in the US for those who have the money.  And that's what the OP is about.  People who have money.  To buy a ranch in Montana, or a beachfront mansion in Florida, or... or...

Just look at population density and it makes sense that people would be fleeing the UK if they have the wherewithal.  Some of them to the US, some to Canada (the ones that like coooold winters)

Countries by population density 2025 - StatisticsTimes.com

If the link doesn't work, the density on the UK is 738/sqmi, the US is 98/sqmi.

True, and if I had the extra, I would buy a house in Canada also, as it's mostly unspoiled country, although it is very cold much of the time. The thing with a lot of rich people is that they like to live in or near large cities, even though there is better living in the country areas.

Thanks for your erudite contribution.

I guess reading and thinking might be a bit too hard, sorry for putting too much strain on you.

Not really.

But allow me to anyway.

Chronic housing shortages.

Pathetic public services.

A lying PM who seems determined to harm the country as much as possible.

A terrible state education system put under extra strain by Labour putting VAT on private schools.

Rubbish internet.

A state run left wing broadcaster pumping out propaganda that the public are extorted to pay for.

A completely biased, bullying police force that police based on their bosses political leanings.

A capital city which has Sadiq Khan as Mayor.

Net Zero folly creating some of the highest energy prices in the world.

But hey, who needs them nasty, stinking millionaires propping up the place? 😄
