Not just in Pattaya (i live in Bkk, for 13 years now. It is day and night compared to 2012).    The world and definitly Thailand has changed quite a bit in the past 10 years, COVID accelerated the whole movement. General prices have gone up -  people/tourists coming in are definitly more broke - quality has gone down (reference to the old fugglies and younger ones who ask crazy prices, though the latter are increasingly skipping the aging bar-scene and moving online where they make waaay more dough..), and that is a bad mix. The "good fun" is kind of gone in more than one way. Times are changing and moving forward, it won't get back to what it was, nothing really does. 

This  is beyond comprehension. Why 10 persons to beat up one visitor, whatever the circumstances. Is this law of jungle country or a a civilized country with formal legal procedures in place.

Savagely beating up someone is morally, socially and legally wrong. 

Kids learn muay Thai in high school. I think kicking is natural for them. No point complaining if they kick westerners.

It pisses me off, when immediately we see posts trying to put the blame on the foreigner... Does this justify a cowardly attack of 10 v 1...the article does not say the foreigner physically assaulted his girlfriend...some of you should be ashamed of yourselves.

And yes, his gf seems a poor choice. Even so, that does not explain 10 guys laying into him. For that to happen, he would have had to do something that's very off.

 

And it was clearly not refusing the girl money, since after his beating his gf steps up to him saying "Why did you DO that to me?" So the guy did something to the girl.

 

Miost likely he got physical with the girl, Thais saw it and exacted swift justice.

I'm almost certain that's what happened. They got in a heated argument, the Swede smacked her. Thai guys saw it and went to defend the damsel in distress.

 

Quite obvious really.

It is irrelevant what type of woman she is, and the article states 10, there is no photo/video, of the attackers, so I don't know where you got 4 or 5 from.

The article says that the Swede and his gf had a heated argument and the gf attacked him. Since the girl attacked him, he most likely retaliated physically.

 

Thai guys saw it and clearly took umbrage at this large foreigner getting physical with a girl.

 

Maybe he cheated, but he certainly must have got physical with her.
