Several plus reports from agents in Pattaya in Particular doing exactly that. 

Also post of agents in same area using BBL to obtain required letter in Bangkok. 

Not about to herd them up and post links.

Did extension in Korat mid-October.  BBL 800K in fixed account held year round.  No form signed.

 

End of October (having already established 800K in a new KBank fixed account) withdrew all the funds and closed the BBL account.

Tip for anyone closing an account. 

I did something similar and issue on new extension as I (foolishly) let the teller take the old pp. 

I was, able to obtain a bank statement for that account for the months I needed but immigration guy not happy no have bank book. 

So advice: keep the cancelled bb.

The issue about agents and cracking down on accounts has primarily been with BB as they have always been the bigger player. I've not seen any significant numbers of post showing agents shifting over to Krungsri although I'm sure agents have used all banks in the past.
