Cannabis Chaos: 12,000 Thai Shops Face Closure Under New Rules

How are stoners different to drinkers?

I smoke weed to relax and fall asleep.

I used to have to drink until I was drunk to get the same effect from alcohol and then waste half the next day feeling rough.

Being able to get weed means I've not touched alcohol for 5 & 1/2 years!

I'm vastly more productive, no hangovers, weed is cheaper (by far) and not drinking has helped me get down to 65 kg with a flat belly!

Alcohol is a depressive but it does loosen inhibitions ( good and bad) so things get more lively after a couple of drinks before tiredness takes over.

I think they have different uses:

Listening to Rory Gallagher, ACDC, I would reach for a beer.

Listening to Floyd, John Martyn, Roy Harper, etc, time to roll up and relax.

Listening to Hawkwind... whatever is near at hand.

He ate rice krispies for breakfast. Are we sure that didn't cause the rampage? Or the milk he ate it with?

" set to take effect by the years end"

That's a bit different from yesterday's news that said we had TWO MONTHS before we had to shut up shop or buy a doctor.

2 months compared to 6 months. And a lot can happen in several months.

And where do you buy a doctor?

And if you don't have one and are found to be in possession of "cannabis flowers" then WHAT IS THE PENALTY?

How many months/ years in the chokey?

Is it back to the same as 3 years ago?

I bet the BIB are loving this.

Happy day are here again!

If the rice krispies were to blame, he would have gone snap, crackle and pop.

Well known that ergot fungus grows on grain. Thats essentially LSD. Not 100% impossible it contributed. Yes Im being silly but seeing gods own weed bding blamed for all manner of crazy stuff so it can be outlawed irritates. It certainly saved my life from a hopeless alcoholic spiral for which I am eternally grateful for.

good. i'm fed up with cannabis and marijuana shops constantly being in my face, i'm fed up with smelling the horrible smell in the streets, i'm fed up with the inconsiderate cannabis smokers.

All you did was trade one drug dependency for another. Your underlying mental health issues have not been resolved, only masked

some might say his life appears to have improved significantly , with the bonus of not having to take any of the noxious offerings from big pharma.I did not read anything that suggested dependency  or mental health problems

I'd like to opine on the concerns with psychosis from weed.  IMO this is only possible because they can make it so much more potent than the stuff from 20 years ago.  That and I believe many people are using other drugs and denying it when they freak out.  And perhaps some weed is laced with other drugs.

So actually having it open and monitored by govt seems a good idea to prevent fentanyl laced weed out there.  I don't know.  I use gummies on occasion and smoke rarely and enjoy the buzz and sleep.  But then when I was young I also dabbled in real hallucinogenics like LSD and never had a "bad trip".  Only time I ever experienced psychosis was when I was suffering in a hospital for 3 months with my belly cut open (sternum to belly button) a tube stuck in me and pain drugs every day plus lack of sleep and food.  That was no fun

That's a massive increase in potency, bring back the old days of Panama Red, Lebanese hash and Nepalese,

I can assure you that hash in almost all forms is much greater than 15 percent.

Ahhhh the good old days.

Quote from Wikipedia:

What THC level is hash?

The most potent principal is δ-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). The resin (hashish) contains 3–6% THC and the flowering tops of the female plant (marijuana) 1–3%. Hashish oil is a much more potent form, which contains 30–50% THC.

Thanks for sharing your experience, really thoughtful post.

I agree with you on a few things: today's weed is definitely stronger than it was 20+ years ago, and potency can absolutely play a role in triggering issues for some people, especially those who may already be predisposed to things like anxiety or psychosis (I am hence why it's important to pick the right strain).

That said, I think it's important to be careful with the idea of weed being “laced”, especially with something like fentanyl. While it's often repeated in the media or by law enforcement, there’s actually very little to no evidence of dealers intentionally lacing weed with fentanyl. It doesn’t make financial or pharmacological sense, and would be a terrible business move. If anything, the rare cases that do come up are likely cross-contamination or misreported toxicology results.

I can't fault you, Rory was a brilliant musician and performer  and also a really nice guy, saw him live several times and met him once in the bar at Manchester free trade hall back in the late 80's  He was a really nice unassuming guy, actually very anti drugs , but  was taken from us by the demon drink

He was in a different league than AC/DC  whos original front man Bon Scott also fell victim to alcohol, Many musicians have died as result of alcohol, none from pot that I can think of

Why on earth would I be interested in anything the bbc would  broadcast regarding cannabis ? This  was obviously going to happen and its been going on for a while. what did you expect the growers to do ? burn it ?      Its just one of the many benefits of prohibition as indeed is the smuggling

I'd have a go at some laced weed.

It seems here in Phuket, in the Talang area they visited 8 shops and only one was operating legally, I dont know anything about the rules and regulation, but they are probably so complicated nobody can understand them,
