The local should’ve asked the monk that had $803 million in the bank for nine years to contribute to the building of the temple. The eggs would’ve cost approximately 2600 Baht,  small in comparison to the 799, 018 spent on building materials towards the temple

I suppose it made the donors feel good for their pathway to heaven

To view them as a "foreign family" is quite mind-boggling, considering that the wife is a local and that their children also have Thai nationality. It doesn't really surprise me as I've seen enough similar remarks, but that kind of retarded mindset sours my enjoyment of this otherwise positive story.

Absolutely!

Matthew 6:1-4...

Giving to the Needy:

“Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in Heaven.

“So, when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.  But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

IN OTHER WORDS, MAKING MERIT FOR THE PRAISE OF MAN TO BE PUBLISHED ONLINE FOR ALL TO SEE PROFITS YOU NOTHING FROM ABOVE! A PAT ON THE BACK AND A FEW "AT A BOYS" IS ALL YOU WILL EVER RECEIVE!

I doubt that would have been Poland's choice of words in September 1939

Good for them.  It's a nice gesture.  My wife and I have financially supported a number of temple renovations in our local area over the years.  Handing out free eggs is a nice touch.  I'll have to consider that once after the temple renovations at are own village temple are completed.  I like that idea.

Eggs costs about 4 THB each, so 2000 would be around ฿8,000.

I'm just confused 🤔 do you somehow believe that Christian dogma is a guiding principle in Thailand Buddhism?

In Kalasin province, Thailand, an unusual celebration unfolded as a kind-hearted German-Thai couple, Dr Rainer Kuppy and Mrs Manirat Chaiyasiha, delighted villagers by distributing 2,000 eggs. This gesture coincided with a major donation for the construction of a monks' residence at the newly opened Wat Pa Si Sutthawat temple.

The couple, residing part-time in Thailand and Germany, contributed cash and construction materials valued at an impressive 799,018 THB. Their support has been pivotal in the temple's development, having offered financial and material assistance on several occasions.

Dr Kuppy, a German businessman, and his wife, a devoted Buddhist from Huai Mek district, have a long-standing commitment to supporting religious and community causes. Married for decades, they have four children and have consistently demonstrated their dedication to the local community.

This generous act also marked a personal celebration, as it coincided with their second son's birthday. The distribution of eggs brought joy and excitement to the local residents, adding a lively dimension to the day's events.

Ms Lamphan Khamhaengphon, the mayor of Kham Mueat Kaeo subdistrict, praised the Kuppy family for their unwavering support, noting their unique position as a foreign family deeply integrated into the community. Their role as main hosts of this large merit-making occasion is significant, as they are the first foreign family to do so in this area.

The temple itself, a project decades in the making, now stands as a testament to collective efforts and international goodwill. The festive atmosphere, buoyed by the egg giveaway, left the villagers with a profound sense of gratitude and community spirit.

The event not only celebrated the temple's official opening but also highlighted the bridge-building potential of cross-cultural understanding and generosity. The Kuppy family's actions reinforced the power of individual contributions in enriching community life and fostering spiritual growth.

I suppose I wrongfully assumed that any upstanding German Lutheran would know the Holy Scriptures, so he should know better. Being the spiritual head of his household, he should never let his wife's Buddhist ideology usurp Christian principles, unless of course, he's not a Christian.

Wow 😳

My wife is Lutheran. I'm an atheist. As "spiritual head of the household" should I be forcing her to be an atheist? 🤔🤷😎

No, but she should gently be trying to share the Gospel of Christ with you so that you will submit your life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, and then you two will be on the same page. Jesus warns us about yoking ourselves intimately with an unbeliever because he knows that there will always be a "push and pull" in the marriage relationship, and ultimately there will be days filled with conflict. If she's not doing that and she gets along fine with you, then she should be questioning her relationship with Christ. The world is full of people who identify as Christians, but they haven't a clue. It's as if they have just checked the Christian box on an employment application because they were certain that the other boxes didn't apply, and that was the only box that seemed to fit, but it really didn't. And by the way, you are disqualified from being the spiritual head of your household because you are not being let by The Holy Spirit but by the anti-Christ spirit of this world. If you are an atheist, then you are being led by the wisdom, knowledge and understanding that you get from the world instead of from Above, and you will never be able to attain the leadership role that God has purposed for you. My prayer for you is that one day the Holy Spirit will open your eyes so that you can see the Light and no longer walk in darkness.
