Suggest avoiding Malaysia.  They are very strict, request documents repeatedly, and take a long time to process.

The only reports I see from Vietnam anymore these days are about DTV.

Laos is very fast, as long as you do your part.

  1. As soon as you enter Laos, submit your application online through the e-visa system and include your Laos entry stamp from your passport. You can even pre-fill most of the application before you arrive in Laos and then as soon as you arrive, upload your entry stamp and submit.
  2. Go to the embassy to pay for your visa as soon as possible after submitting your application.  They only allow this during certain hours, so check the embassy for verification.
  3. Wait to be contacted to schedule interview
  4. Attend interview and receive notification your visa is issued before you even arrive back to your hotel.

Remember you have to have the 400k baht in your account to get the 90 day non o based on raising Thai child ( or the equivalent in funds in a bank in your country)

www.thaivisaservice.com runs to the Thai consulate in Savannakhet, contact them.

The only Visa that requires an interview is the DTV

There is no interview for the non-o, non-ed, non-b

Even better

I was under the impression the required 400K THB had to be in a Thai bank account as per previous reports.

If you’re applying for a Non-Immigrant O visa as the parent of a Thai child, you’re eligible as long as your name appears on your child’s Thai birth certificate or you have legal adoption documents. You’ll need to submit your application to a Thai embassy or consulate, and the general required documents are:
    •    Your passport (valid for at least 6 months with 2 blank pages)
    •    A completed and signed visa application form
    •    1 passport-sized photo (white background, no smile, no glasses, collared shirt)
    •    A copy of your child’s Thai birth certificate showing your name as the parent, or official adoption papers if applicable
    •    Photos of you with your child (at home, at school, or in daily activities)
    •    A copy of your child’s house registration (Tabian Baan)
    •    A school confirmation letter if your child is currently enrolled

—————————————————————————————————————

If you’re married to the child’s Thai mother:
    •    A copy of your marriage certificate
    •    A copy of your wife’s Thai ID card and Tabian Baan

—————————————————————————————————————
    •    Proof of financial status (bank statement or evidence of sufficient savings or income; at least 400,000 THB or foreign currency equivalent in a foreign bank account)
    •    Proof of your current address (such as a lease or utility bill, if requested)

Once your visa is approved and you arrive in Thailand, you’ll need to open a Thai bank account as soon as possible and begin maintaining a balance of at least 400,000 THB in order to qualify for the 1-year extension later on. The money must be in your account for at least 2 months before the extension application.

Unless I'm mistaken, when the consulates went to evisa, you could show proof of funds in your country again.

I think you're referring to that consulate before they went to the e Visa online system.

All three consulates in Malaysia are now not that use friendly

Thai Immigration will not accept a child's birth certificate as proof of the Father in the same way an Embassy will for the visa.

It doesn't sound as if the OP was married to the Mother, so unless he's obtained legal custody rights and the child lives with him, he won't be able to apply for the 1-year extension.

As you pointed out in previous threads from OP, he is not new to this

as indicated in this thread.

Doesn't seem that he has previously obtained a 12 month extension from a Non O.

Perhaps not possible for him at immigration for reasons you stated.

Not sure what the OP is actually asking advice on

If the OP is 50+ he could consider non O retirement+ annual extensions.

Financials the only hurdle.

Valid point, however goes without saying always check any public holidays for planning dealings with immigration both in Thailand and outside.

To be honest I have already got 2 years successfully one year Extension at Thai Local immigration but I love travel in South East Asia that's why I always need recent update. If I got a new one year extension my wife won't let me go outside

Enough from me.

You seem to be playing games with your threads.

Now you state that you have a wife (assume Thai)

It would be unusual to obtain extension based on support of Thai child if you were still married to the mother. Not aware of immigration office that would allow that.

Don't find your threads credible.

I'm perplexed by the whole scenario.

Appears he wants a new Non O as an excuse to take some time away from his wife.
